Walk around the beautiful gardens and set yourself back in time. If you have time you should visit the rock theathre which is located on the hill, just above the zoo.

During a short stay in Salzburg, we went to see the Hellbrun Castle. We took the basic tour through the impressive palace. It took several hours - including the travel to and from - and is in my opinion sufficient for people planning a few days visit to the city. There is a little restaurant on the premises that serves... More

Although thinking we might not enjoy the trick fountains, we found it an enjoyable experience. The gardens are remarkable and the interior beautiful.

We really enjoyed this experience - the guide was funny, but it is not possible to avoid getting wet! We rushed through the rest of the palace as our time was limited. We had been to so many palaces and castles, this one wasn't a stand-out, but definitely worth the visit just for the trick fountains. Didn't bother with the... More

we took the bus from Salzburg, it took maybe 15-20mins, and you were right there. we bought a ticket to go and see the trick fountains, they were funny, but be careful with your cameras!!!! it was very good. after that we went looking for the Sound off Music gazebo!, we did find it , right out off the way,... My wife and I visited here on the early afternoon of Wednesday, Sept 17, 2014. We took the public bus (line 25 ?) from the historic area of Salzburg and it was an easy trip, no changing of buses, a straight shot. It is a very short walk from the bus stop to the grounds. We had last visited the... More

We only visit the garden, looking for something to do outdoor. Although its is quite large, it is just average, and not too well kept. Some of the fountains have cloudy water. The Sound of Music gazebo , tucked in a corner, on a bare piece of land, close to a wall, look disappointing.

This summer palace has beautiful peaceful grounds and gardens....and amazing trick fountains that were built totally for amusement in 1612-1619!!! It served also as a hunting lodge where the Prince Archbishop Sittikus entertained guests. What fun he must have had surprising his VIP that came to hunt. The gazebo there is featured in the SOUND OF MUSIC <3. Hellbrunn is... More

Trick fountains tour is interesting and in both German and English. Just when you think you know which bits to avoid to stay dry more water comes from a different place and you must be prepared to get wet.
