Nice, but nothing extraordinary. You get a great view when you arrive to the destination, but a drive is not a particularly interesting though.

The Villacher Alpenstrasse leads to the Dobratsch Nature Park, where extensive walking to several view points can be made. But the drive up the Villacher Alpenstrasse, up to the ultimate parking area P11, is worth the money levied at the entrance of the road. Several parking areas are available to enjoy views of the landscape including the Drau Valley, where... More

The drive up was ok, it wasn't as spectacular as I hoped but we wanted to do the walk so paying the Eur 16 entry fee was part of the deal. The walk up was rewarding, there's horses on the grassland and they seem quite friendly. After an hour of walking, there's snow on the grounds which just added to... More

Cost is now 16 Euros. There are 8-9 viewpoints which are OK but not overly spectacular. The high point and purpose, from my point of view, was to hike up to Dobratsch. If you are up for it take the Route 294 called Jägersteig up and 291 - the road on the return.

I have to say that we were focused on the walk to the top, so were surprised by the long drive to get there in the first place. You pass through a toll, where they now charge 16 euros. The it's a winding but beautiful ride to the top. There are 12 car parks on the way up, where you... More

A beautiful drive to the top, with many sops to see the Border where Slovenia, Italy and Austria come together. An alpine garden is a nice stop.

I very lovely drive up this mountain road. Very good road, fantastic vistas and easy to get to view points.Stop often and look around. At the summit, well not quite since you have to walk a bit, a spectacular vista awaits you. A nice, typical alpine restaurant with typical austrian food and a good beer is your reward. It is deffinately... More

Way worth while. Great view! Not as steep as most alpen strasse. And a must see for people who like mountain views! There is a short walk to the top that I would definitely recommend!

On the edge of town, this road quickly takes the explorer to heights with spectacular scenery! Good paved road, well marked turnouts and scenic overlooks. perfect for the photographer.

Nice ride up the mountain with scenic views out over the Julian Alps. We did this while driving from Lake Bled in Slovenia to Venice and it was well worth the slight detour. There is parking near the top and trails...but be prepared as the weather can become inclement pretty quickly.
