A cruise on the 17 km long Woerher See is a must if you are in the area. You can board at any of the many ports of call, then leave at a stop of your choice; you have roughly two hours to explore the town and then catch the next ship to continue the cruise. We stopped at Maria... More

We were driving to Klagenfurt (which is not so big so can be visisted in 2 hours) and hen decided to drive around the lake and stop somewhere to eat. It was also the sugestion of a nice lady woking in the Klagenfurt Turist Info. The trip takes around 2 hours if you do not stop in every village -... More

A beautiful lake whichever side you tackle it from - the south shore is better as you don't have the main Villach-Klagenfurt motorway and you get stunning views back across the Nockberge and the Hohe Tauern mountains. Velden is a great spot for just meandering around, grabbing a cold drink or a bite to eat by the waters. Almost Mediterranean... More

You'd never believe we could have found this place by accident, but that's exactly what happened! We were on a road trip across europe and looking for a hotel near the border with slovenia. Our sat nav recommended a hotel a couple of miles off route, so we headed there. Around the lake, the town has the look and feel... More

The place has an ever-present summer afternoon atmosphere, Walking along the coast of the lake watching the sun set was a delightful and remarkable experience.

You could choose to spend the day here I suppose or just grab a cup of coffee or tea. It is very beautiful and very typical of a small alpine lake. I enjoyed doing a little relaxing and people watching here. It is very relaxing, but parking was an issue on the weekend in July when I visited.

I actually visited this lake for Ironman Austria. The water quality is super clean and is an amazing turquoise blue. The mountains in the backdrop had snow. It is simply a beautiful lake. Bike riding in the area was great as well. There must be some money in the area, as I have never seen so many Lamborghini's and Ferraris's... More

We wanted to take a walk along the cost of the lake which is not possible as apparently Austria allows privately owned shorelines. It was only possible to come to the lake shore in the village centers. Otherwise it would have been a perfect weekend.
