For me too commercialized. Area for swimming is too crowded, with lot of people from everywhere, water is not clear and you have feeling like you are in some family vacation movie. Walking outside swimming area one side east-south east doesn'teven have lake view since there are private properties, while second side east-east north is full of stands, few caffe bars,... More

stunning lake, warmer than any sea i,ve swum in. No sand or salt to contend with. Plenty of activities to keep the kids and hubby happy inluding diving boards. A beautiful lake with lots of small villages running alongside the lake itself however as has been mentioned before, there are a lot of private properties on the lake which restrict... More

The lake is a real beauty. The water was warm. The beach is really privatized and there are not walking path by the lake.many private beaches .The access to the lake is limited. the lake (in some park or so). There are beaches open for public (with entrance fee) the fact that it's almost.

Most gorgeous Lake in Austria! Very warm and beautiful - we will be back soon! So many possibilities for things to do in the direct and near area.

This is the most beautiful, not overhyped (only around the region) lake in Central Europe. Although prices are all around on the high end, and those regularly visiting beaches won't be impressed by the bathing, it is a grand place to cycle around, and the surroundings, like Maria Woerth and a few Schloesser, will give you an idea of Austrian... A truly beautiful lake with an unforgettable color. It's shores have been home to Emperor Franz Joseph 1, Johannes Brahms, Gustaf Mahler, Udo Jurgens (1966 Eurovision Song Contest winner). Almost every type of craft move here and almost every type of water activity takes place. It is a much loved, well managed lake. A cycle track exists between Klagenfurt and... More

I didn't know anything about this area and decided to add it on my road trip as it fit in with our schedule. As soon as we arrived I fell in love. We stayed an extra day and would have stayed even longer if it wasn't for the rain. I would recommend vacationing in this area for the beautiful scenary,... More

The lake is completely breath-taking! Gorgeus for swim too. But if you plan to visit the place, be aware, that the beach is really privatized and you hardly find a place for a nice walk by the lake. It's surrounded with private mansions, private beaches... therefore your access to the lake (or lake view) is really limited and you will... More

We stopeed in Klagenfurt on our way to Naples, so it's quite obvious we didn't expect anything special. You can imagine our surprise when we decided to have =a moonlight stroll before going to sleep in the evening.

Wörthersee has everything you would expect from a busy seaside resort - water-sports, nightlife, bars, cafe's, etc, but of course it's a lake in the Austrian mountains, meaning fresh water and no sand in your underpants! Nearby Klagenfurt is a university city, so there's a lot of young people around during term-time. The lake is also ideal for families -... More
