You should go up to the tower because of the view from it. You can either walk up all the way or use a lift or a funicula.

I was studying in Graz for 5 months. And this was definitely my favourite place there, first during the winter and then later in summertime. Spring and summer is so beautiful over there. You can see the whole city and all of the roofs! They have nice restaurants there where you can grab a beer and just enjoy!

The walk uphill is a little strenuous for the unfit like me, but for every break on every level is a great view of Graz. From the Uhrturm, the view over the city is amazing. The skyline, the garden, the brick walls are charming. If you are spending limited time in Graz, visit the Uhrturm where you can see the... More

A lovely climb up the stairs to view over the city of Graz beside this gorgeous old clock tower. You can also wander along to the chinese rotunda & the star fort whilst on the hilltop & take the funicular down.

Walking up to the Uhrturm is a good work out. Once you are up there the view over the town and further valley is majestic. Several cafes and restaurants available at the top to chill and enjoy the view.

This whole thing is set on the top of a hill. If you are into hiking you can walk there. Otherwise there is a little tram that will take you there starting from 10:00am or so. The price is about 2 euros or something like that. There is the tower, the gardens, and I believe a 360 degree view of... More

Sadly you can't currently go up the Uhrturm itself but it is well worth the short but steep walk up from the old town for the spectacular views across the city it affords. It is Graz's enduring symbol and so it is a must for any visitor. It's also 100% free.
