Located right in the center of Linz. The day we were there, there was craft fair with all types of food, crafts and souvenirs.

Bordered by a range of eateries/meeting places, this charming town square also hosts a weekly farmer's market as well as a wide variety of seasonal fairs. It is the ideal starting point from which to explore the Old Town, take one of the quiet side roads and walk up to the castle, or stroll around the area to admire architecture.... More

This is a quaint place with a surprising amount of character, plenty of places to eat with a few shops thrown in. The highlight of this square is the central monument which is impressive. They also run city tour trains from there for around €8 per adult.

Linz's main city square contains many shops and cafés that allow you to experience a taste of the city. However, as might be expected, the square is nothing special when compared to any larger city's plaza.

The square is in Linz city centre, its right in the heart of Linz. Trams pass through on all 3 of Linz tram routes and it's also the start of the scenic Postlingbergbahn tram route to Postlingberg. There are lots of lovely historic church only a few minutes walk from here! The best place to east is Riva restaurant, the... More

The square offered nothing special... there are places to eat and grab an ice cream but other than that there isn't much to it.

Linz is not a city I would go out of way to visit. If you happen to be traveling down Danube or driving through, I would go see it. The main square isn't the greatest although it does have little outdoor Easter markets if you happen to go in April. Linz tort is also apprently a highlight, but it was... More

The Hauptplatz is a pretty little area with lots of flowers, a ton of little cafes, and a lot of transportation options (including the tram up to Postlingberg). It's definitely worth coming to take pictures even if you don't plan on doing anything else.

Comparing with other squares which I have already visited it is alittle disappointment. It is not a good idea to let trams and cars go through it looks more like a busy street. The information center is good they give you a map of the city. And it lays so close to the main city points.

A large traditional old city square, typical in Europe, only that this one is very large, with lots of beautiful Gothic and Baroque Churches, nice alleys around. Can reach by trams No 1,2 or 3 from the main train station. Can also take tram No 50 to Postlingberg.
