We used the funicula to go to the viewing platform but decided against the salt mines as it was fairly late in the day and quite expensive. After purchasing our tickets we tried to go through the barrier and my ticket would not work. There was no one around and I tried several times to get the barrier to accept... More

The slides were the main draw for us and our 8 year old, and they were a lot of fun. The tour was interesting and the history is fascinating, but the huge group size and glitzy presentations prevented me from fully appreciating it. They pack way too many people into each group -- as a result you spend literally half... More

From the trip up on the funicular, through the mine and out on the viewing platform over the lake, you can see why this place is UNESCO World Heritage listed. The mine tout takes you through the entire history of the salt mine, the oldest in the world. Salt has been mined here for 7,000 years, amazingly enough. Through video... More

After comming up you will be sweaty but happy. Do not need to have special warm clothes. You will get it before mine entering. There is... More

Our tour guide was the best. She handled several couples who were older and English speaking like us as well as a group of about forty elementary school age children with their teachers who were German speaking. Dressed in traditional miner's garb she explained to the group of children in both languages that she expected them to be respectful to... More

We had a nice time here and learned about the salt mining. It was fun to wear the work clothes and go down the slides.
