We spent 18 days in Europe. Salzburg, Hallstatt, Munich, Paris, Versailles. I can't stop thinking about Hallstatt. It was SOOO worth going. Of course we based ourselves in Salzburg and took the bus/train combo and almost didn't go due to the hassle of getting there. Based on reviews here on Tripadvisor we planned a full day. I wish we had... More

Took the funicular up the mountain. Hiked from the drop off to the start of tour. Beautiful views. Interesting informational signs along the way. Tour was delivered in German and English. Most folks on our tour spoke English. Had fun sliding on the miners' slides. Several multimedia presentations were included in the tour. These were presented in German with English... More

Overall it was an enjoyable experience. However, a couple of things could be better. This is definitely not for disabled people. This is not for those who are claustrophobic. This is not for people who cannot walk up or down stairs much, and last of all: you will have to choose between sliding at a speed of 30 Kms. twice,... More

Great interactive tour I really enjoyed it, very informative with a lovely tour guide. Reasonable cost, €50 euro including the salt mine tour and the very scary ride to the top of the look out. The tour does require a bit of uphill and stair walking so beware if you are unfit! We had lunch and a much needed drink... More

A very place for couples. Stay over a night if possible even though accommodations are quite hard to find and quite expensive, but it's surely worth.

A wonderful place with a real natural beauty hidden between high mountains. A place you should not missed if you are nearby. We went there for a day from Salzburg. You have to take the bus, a train and a boat to reach Hallstat. It is a couple of hours trip. The views throughout the journey are so spectacular that... More

Of course the views are spectacular. Breathtaking. But when you do the salt mine tour... very interesting, helped by a beautiful Spanish guide who spoke several languages. The slides deep in the mountain are fun and the different environments for film are superbly innovative. Strongly recommend this tour. And then why not take the zig-zag path down the mountain instead... More

I was really looking forward to this tour, but its just ok. From the funicular, its about a 10 min walk to get to the start of the tour. You get to wear some really funky "mining outfit" over your own and off you go. 2 slides down a wooden slide and you are in the heart of the mine.... More

What a great little show this was our tour guide was able to articulate everyone in different languages so everybody was happy. And he was good fun and entertaining Our tour started at 955 with a short interlude to change into some protective clothing. I'm not going to give much away but we learnt a lot about the area the...
