... in fact it is the reason the town exists as it it today. You will be part of a mandatory guided tour of approx 70 minutes. To reach the mine (30 km long), you need to take the funiculaire railway on the west side of Hallstatt. Go see the viewing platform, then make your way slowly to the greating... More

Fantastic experience, I can only strongly recommend. It was fun on one hand, but it is also worthwile to take the opportunity and think about the hardship of the life of a miner when descending to the mine. Anyhow, very informative and interesting. A good choice even if bad weather hits you on your trip.

Brilliant tour of the mine showing visitors how the miners operated and a couple of fun slides, as you go from level to level. The tour guide spoke perfect English and German, and was very knowledgeable, I forget her name. The tour takes you through various areas of the mine with films, and then on the way out on a... More

Great tour in the mine which uses the modern technology in a very nice way to show visitors everything about the mine and the history of this place. The slides used to go down inside the mine are great and bring a little bit of fun into the whole experience.

A superb and unique experience. Don't get too excited about the slides though. There are just two of them. There are a few stairs to climb so people with weak joints might have problem. Kids under 4 are not allowed. Temperature inside the mines is close to 15 but feels lower at some places. Recommended to keep some warm clothing... More

This tour was well with the €26.00 entrance charge. You begin by walking along a nice wooded pathway which is dotted with columns with information on ehat about salt mining and the history of this mine. You then get to wear "miners clothes" and join the tour! The tour with bi lingual, German and English (the tour guide spoke good... More

It was a gloomy day - the very last summer day. It happened to be really grey and rainy. Instead of Alpine road, which was full of snow, we decided to go to Hallstatt. We didn't regret about it even for a moment! The entrance to the city is through the mountain tunnel - don't be afraid-just mind the green... More
