I experienced this valley on the Avalon Vista, as it floated down the Danube. Just lovely. The scenery is beautiful and the river like glass. The shore line is sprinkled with small towns and vineyards.

Our DANUBE adventure was the trip of a lifetime! Glorious days spent spinning through some of the most beautiful country on earth. The crew was a hoot, the suggested tours were phenomenal and the scenery was beyond anything I could have imagined. The ship was a satisfactory, the food was really yummy, the bikes were swell and I loved all...

You will find the Wachau Valley in any guidebook about Austria, but when you see how accessible it is from Vienna - then you understand It is a "must see place". You just need a car – and it is only about an hour from Vienna on either end. The trains from Vienna go there too but in my opinion...

Abbey of Melk was a highlight of our Vienna tour. Beautiful example of Baroque architecture combined with a contemporary artistic flare. The museum section is artistic with the interplay of lights, modern interpretations and overall very well done.
We had a car service and our guide from Vienna with us since we had a busy day planned. Our guide was...

My husband and I pre-booked this day trip through Viator before visiting Vienna in September 2012. I would have to say that it was a day to remember. We were lucky to have great weather which was a bonus. We were picked up at our hotel and taken to the coach park, where we departed for the day trip. We...

In October we took a self-guided Eurohike Wachau Valley walk, we can recommend it highly.
The walk lasts 8 days and goes along the Danube from Krems to Melk. The walk includes hill climbing but as an alternative there are very good paths along the Danube. The walk (with hotels in brackets) begins at Krems (Unter den Linden) and then...

We decided to try a river cruise for the first time and it was well worth the money. We left Regensburg and sailed through the Wauchau Valley on our way to Vienna in November and despite some cool, overcast days it was a great experience. Gate1 was very competitive and the ship (Sound of Music) was in excellent shape with...

We took the early train out of Vienna to Melk arriving around 08:10. Knowing that the Abbey did not open until 9:00 we walked around for a bit and arrrived at the Abbey around 08:35. To our great surprise there were already several LARGE tour groups assembled in the courtyard. Since we bought the combi trip we had to exchange...

A perfect day trip from Vienna with lots of history and scenic beauty. Don't miss one of the many Heurigers and make sure to taste the top class Grüner Veltliners and some of their apricot liquor. Consider taking the train up and the boat back down to Vienna! Also, there is no point of going in bad weather.
