We traveled through the Wachau Valley during our Viking River Cruise. It was among the most picturesque part of our journey. There were small villages with towering churches. It is a naturally beautiful part of the country on the Danube. If you aren't on a boat there is a road that runs along the river as well.

The scenery is very quiet and unique. The valley is only one hour away from Vienna and worth a one day trip. There are many small restaurants with local food. The people in the area are very friendly and good hosts.

We sailed through the Waccau Valley on a Danube river cruise. It was absolutely gorgeous. Every bend in the river offered another beautiful panorama. The mountains and the beautiful little towns were memorable.

We visited here during grape harvest season on a Danube River. Cruise. The weather was hazy, but scenery was beautiful. It's no wonder this whole valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We visited the Wachau Valley on a Danube River cruise with Gate1 and thought this must be the only way to see it. The small towns with their churches, the vineyards and the gentle curves of the river...perfect.

It is the ancient wine making area of Austria and short before entering Vienna. Please enjoy the wonderful view especially on a nice day. Don't fall asleep. Many small wine drinking places, but you can also eat realy Austrian meals there. Also many people go there to bike ride.

If you would like to escape from the bustle of Vienna, then a leisurely cruise on the Danube really affords some relaxation. From the U-Bahn terminus at Heiligenstadt in Vienna you merely switch platforms to catch a train to Krems. At Krems, turn left when you exit the station and keep walking down the main street until you come to... More

We took the week long bike tour with the ship the Theodor Korner from Passau Germany to Vienna and back. We were four couples in our 50's. Had a blast. Staff on the ship were wonderful and the food was great. Special thanks to Jan our cruise director. Bikes provided by the ship were top notch. Bike all day at... More

I enjoyed eating the grapes around Sept time and sleeping in a cabin in the woods here on the way to one of the castles with a nice view of the Danube river. This is a very historical part of Austria, just over an hour from Vienna on the train. You should visit here as well as Melk and Krems... More
