One of must-see "burg" when you are in Burgenland. Impressive castle visible from afar, good accessibility by car, great history inside, dominant medieval tower and very nice view from castle.

The castle was never captured so everything is in its original condition. One of the many homes and fortresses of the Esterhazy's, this one has the largest private weapons collection in Europe. The treasury chamber is excellent. The views from the castle are excellent and you appreciate its commanding position.

Very big and original fortress. The enemy could never occupy, so every room and object are original. Here you will find Europe's largest private gun collection, original "modern" kitchen, very deep well (try it with water so funny), so nice treasury ect. If you have time buy combinated ticket and visit each of the three floors.

Treasure chamber, armory, walls and view of the landscape - these are the main reasons for visiting the castle. Recommended warmer clothes and shoes, the castle walls are really thick (-: Guided tours in German or Hungarian, free movement of the area.

We visited on a quick trip through Austria, from Hungary to France. It was a miserable day but an interesting castle to walk around. Best of all is you can walk around some of it for free. In fact rest did not really seem open, but I think tickets could be purchased from the gift shop. Imposing position and I... More
