Nice if you happen to pass by on your way to the airport (if you have a car) or you are visiting the Mosque (fourth in order of importance in the Islamic world), if not, just let go... flamingos may or may not be there... so you may or may not be lucky.

The lake was once a source of salt but this has not been collected for many years due to the immediate proximity of Larnaca airport. During the winter months the lake is home to hundreds of flamingos that migrate here from the south. It is a very impressive sight when the weather is still, the birds, the reflections of the... 10 minutes drive from Larnaka's airport. Basically a lake that you can go around for a walk and to enjoy the water and the fresh air. In the summer you will be able to dip inside the water but in the spring the summer is still very cold. If your hotel is in the area then you can take a... More

Ideal stroll from near our home, pleasant walk and place to view the migrating flamingos. I have walked this route many times including a complete circum navigation of the Salt Lake

Coming here in march was great as got to see lots of flamingoes. The weather was not great , but to compensate for this got to see 2 hopoe birds which are very distinctive. As the lake is served by the larnaca bus company this is an inexpensive and enjoyable excursion.

The Salt lake is walking distance from the hotel, and is great for a casual walk, it has beautiful views and relaxing atmosphere. For the more serious, there is a path along the lake which leads to the famoius Aqueducts, beautifuol to see.

Flamingos are only here over the winter months (there's no water in the summer!). We visited the salt lake in March, and there were still plenty to see. But note that they may not be where the main car park is (nature, eh?). If that's the case, you have two options: walk anti-clockwise from the car park on the decent... More

We walked around part of the Lake. It was spring and all the flowers were out and many flamingos still present. A nice walk in the warm spring sunshine.
