We visited Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis Church as a part of a tour in a number of churches in Troodos mountain, that are within the Unesco world heritage under the name "Painted Churches in the Troodos Region". The exterior of this church was the most peculiar and the most beautiful of all. Actually the architecture of this church is really... More

Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis, is a very old church, belonging now to UNESCO heritage, that if you are nearby Kakopetria should be visited. We went there using a car, so can not actually say, if it is easily approachable on foot. Worth seeing!

That is the Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis Church situated in the upper Solea valley. Inside the Church you can see unique frescoes belonging to various periods. Beautiful work of art and well preserved that makes... More

This is one of the easiest UNESCO painted Troodos churches to visit. Many of the others are closed or only open on appointment etc, a real hassle. this one closes at 16:00 (different from the 18:00 quoted in the Lonely Planet). Once inside - no photos - the frescos are wonderful, really bright vivid and in an excellent state of... More
