The Pont Adolphe bridges the gorge made by the Petreus River, when at full force, it cut through the sandstone cliffs. Now it is the Upper (Haute) area of the City. The Lower area - leading to the Grund, is a botanical wonderland of formal gardens and natural forestation.

It seems the reviews for the 2 main bridges in Luxembourg are getting a little mixed. Just to help make a very clear difference, this bridge, Pont Adolphe does not have train tracks, the other "main attraction" bridge is Viaduc (Passerelle) which does have train tracks. It also has one big archway as apposed to the several arches that make... More

Pont Adolphe is easy to reach within Luxembourg city, so why not swing by? It's a perfect spot from which to enjoy Luxembourg's signature topography. Be sure to bundle up if the forecast is chilly, though — the wind can bring an extra nip with it!

Euroclear's Security depository is on one side of the bridge and Cedel's (now Clearstream) is on the Luxembourg side. Back in the day when financial securities were physically exchanged between the two an Armoured Car used to drive across this very bridge daily to exchange securities - hence the phrase quoted above. Anyway, history aside, it is a beautiful bridge... More

If an artist or a poet has to write about this bridge then lot of things can be said but for us it is a bridge which represents city rich heritage which has withstood the time. Its elegance not only comes from the stle of construction but the beautiful valley underneath.

Not sure why this bridge is so exciting (probably an institution for locals). It is an interesting structure but nothing that exceptional that cannot be seen elsewehere in Europe.

Just next to the Gelle Fre monument so another centrally located spot. Again, perfect view over the Petrusse valley from here. Cross the bridge for Gare (main bus location) and the museum of banking.

I still can't get over the scale of ancient stone fortification in this city. I recommend standing at the mid-point of the bridge near Pont Adolphe, and just taking it all in. Amazing!

This is a bridge in the middle of the town that gives you the views that feature on postcards from Luxembourg. There is the lower city you see and the emblem building of BCEE, as well as a view over the old upper town. A must if you visit Luxemnbourg
