The village and castle of Vianden are not to be missed on a visit to Luxembourg. The chateau is impossibly charismatic, exonerating the Luxembourg government's decision to completely rebuild it, starting around 40 years ago. The castle provides an authentic insight into medieval architecture despite having been a ruin relatively recently. Lots of old buildings all around Europe have been... More

1 hour away from Luxembourg City Chateau de Vianden is a nice half day trip. Town of Vianden is picturesque and touristy with many restaurants and river walk. Castle was restored well so it's a pleasure walk wondering around its grounds.

For about an hour drive from Luxembourg, worth the visit because of the location and the history itself. The castle was restored quite well to give that amazing look.

1 hour if you get the train to ettelbruck and the 520 bus I think it is..from gare central in Luxembourg city. Picturesque and touristy town. If possible, take the ski lift down from the castle as the views are outstanding.

You will need around 1 hour from Luxembourg city centre to go to Vianden. It is 4 euros for a day ticket (all trains and buses included) and 6 euros to enter the castle.if you want you will need extra 2 euros for the audio guide(we didnt pay for that). A very well renovated castle, nothing spectacular but interesting. Take... More

I love hiking through Vianden. The hiking trails invariably go up and above the chateau with lovely views of the exterior. Did a tour inside many years ago. Rather blah. But, from above and across the valley, the views of the chateau are amazing.

You'd better go there via a chairlift (beautiful ride!!!), and then walk down to the castle from the upper chairlift station through pleasant forest. Then, after the castle, go back to town via main street walking downhill. It is much more convenient this way.

For 6 euro's a nice visit for a beautiful Chateau. Only thing was that you didn't had a nice panorama view over the city at the castle. But when you walk down a little bit, there is a panorama view behind a tower.
