Vianden Castle is a bit far away from Luxembourg City. If you are not driving there, then you need to catch a train and then take bus to the foot of the Castle. You will need to keep aside min 3 hrs for traveling to & fro. After you get off at the bus stop there is about 15min climb... More

This is a fantastic castle to view from afar, but as it fell into disrepair, most of the interiors have been restored in a basic way and it lacks the detail and authenticity that you hope to get when visiting a castle.

The entire town of Vianden is highlighted around the chateau situated high up on a cliff overlooking the town and countryside. I highly recommend a visit to the castle which for us was €12 per person. As it was winter the workmen were focusing on renovations but the main section of the castle was still open and made for a... Very nice castle to visit. Thought the small guide book for sale at the entrance was well worth the price. Castle is nicely maintained. Small art exhibit going on was a nice added bonus.

Vianden Castle is beautiful and its set amongst some of the most beautiful countryside I have seen in Luxembourg. From the first view of it as the bus turns the corner to the majestic, imposing sight of it as you walk towards it this castle, and all of the artifacts inside are magical from start to finish. Vianden is beautiful... More

Vianden Castle was simply astounding. Not only was it one of the largest fortifications west of the Rhein, but it was absolutely majestic. The views from the great hall alone make the day trip to Luxembourg well worth it. It is organized to let you wander the castle yourself, without a guide, which leaves you free to wander as you... Lovely castle, quite well presented (most of the rooms are accessible to the public). Actually I liked looking at it from far down more than being in the castle itself. Yet, perfect view once on top! Definitely recommend it.

This is a lovely castle that is very well organised with an easy to follow rout around the castle to ensure that you get to see everything. There are a lot of steps and some of the staircases are quite narrow so not really suitable for the disabled. Even though it was cold and raining the day we visited, the... More

I loved the history, the artifacts, the reconstruction of the daily life in the castle... I missed a place to have refreshments (could be done in their KELLER?)

Easy to get to from Luxembourg City - get the train to Ettlebruck (no reason to stop in this town though other than to buy some lunch at the supermarket) then change to the bus for Vianden. We walked up and down. The walk up is a little bit demanding so take your time or get the lift. Stunning from... More
