Great castle which has been rebuilt to show how it was originally as it was only ruins before. Very steep hill from the parking place and up and then there are many stairs in the castle itself. A great place to stop on the way to Germany and the town is lovely.

Beautiful restored castle, the biggest in Europe in such good shape. Very genuine on the outside, a little modern on the inside, but still a good impression of what it was like. Don't take the chairlift, as it is a steep climb down, just walk up from the town

Pros: 1- free with Luxembourg card 2- well preserved and presented castle from Medieval era 3- useful and fully informative audio guide Cons: 1- the audio guide costs 2€ even with Luxembourg card 2- takes 15 min hiking to reach to it if you use lift. I guess it takes longer if you don't Conclusion: Worth to visit it if... More

We love Chateau de Vianden and the medieval style village that it is set in. You can self tour the castle at your own pace, plan on at least 45 mins to an hour. Parking is just down the hill, about a 3 min walk to the entrance. Great english booklet available for €3 at the cash office. Bathrooms are... More

Looking up towards the castle from below, you can only but imagine how life must have been hundreds of years ago with this fortress protecting the town of Vianden below. It towers boldly over the quaint town and has a great air of majesty about it. The audio tour is only a few Euros and is an absolute must as... More

We decided to visit this castle as we were in the neighborhood. Good half day visit. Quiet and spacious. Good for walking around and learning a little about the country's past.

We arrived to Vianden to spend calm weekend in nature. Small town is sweet and offers you view on the castle almost from every point. We decided to go there by lift and it was good choice. Thanks to that you can see castle from the top, after short walk through forrest you get gate. For sure it is well... More

The castle is definitely worth a visit. Last entry is at 6pm. We arrived at 5.:45pm and were not rushed out.

The castle itself is not that special, I have seen better ones here in Europe. But the walk up to the castle is very nice and offers a great view of the small town below, especially on a sunny day.
