I went to Vianden Castle last weekend with my husband and it was totally worth it! It is only around 1-1.5hr drive from Luxembourg city and the view along the way was breath-taking. I didn't have the chance to take the chairlift but enjoying the beauty of the castle from distance while having a nice cup of coffee at the... More

Not the biggest or fanciest Castle, but it is a nicely restored example of mid-evil architecture. Inside there are many rooms restored back to how they would have been in the 1500s as well as the story of the castle with many models showing how it began as a Roman fort and grew with time. This is a must visit... More

A very pretty castle, and it has been nicely restored. The city is charming, and it is worth a visit.

I have the restoration process seen developing in the last decade. Visiting the castle of the Orange family many times now. The castle is situated above the city of Vianden. A quit steep path is leading to the castle. A tour takes you approximately 1.5 hour. It gives you a very good flavor of the foreign times. In the years... More

Take the chairlift and the zig zag path through the woods to the castle. Both are free with a luxembourg card. Restored castle with good displays and views

We liked the to be able to walk at our own pace and read the information in all the rooms. It is very informal and there is very little you can't explore. To read about how it was in almost complete ruin and then rebuilt to look like it did in its glory years is a tribute to the country... More

If you are in Vianden, you should visit the Castle. It's an interesting place with a very nice view from the village.

My daughter and I were backpacking in Europe and decided to go from Luxemburg City to Vianden. We walked from the bus stop down by the bridge, up the very steep cobbled-stoned road to get to Viandens Castle. We were the only people walking through the place at the time so it was quite eerie but utterly spectacular. There are... More

Went up to the Chateau via the chair lift , once we reached and entered the chateau it is full of history, the rooms are laid out has they would have been in the roman times. The restoration has been of a good standard , there is plenty to see and is very interesting .

We wanted to kill some time before we went into Luxemburg City for a bike tour. We spent about 1-1.5 hours walking around and learning about this castle, I mean, chateau :) The castle was destroyed more than 100 years ago by people salvaging the stones. They decided to rebuild the castle in the 70s and have done a great... More
