Peaceful spot with seats , trees, a little cafe and a superb view of the Grand Harbour. Enough space for the many people who visit. Arrange to be there for 12noon as you will hear and see the gun fired. Also done at 4pm. But they do charge for this. Useful lift down from here to waterfront area(free) and back... More

The view is fantastic, there's plenty of shade in the gardens-great stop after walk around town. There's a little cafe there-great for cold drink or some icecream.

The spectacular views are almost indescribable. My advice would be to take the panoramic lift up from the harbour front shortly before 12.00 and experience the noon day gun salute. See the three cities of The Knights of Malta across one of the world's largest natural deep water harbours. Watch juggernaut cruise liners dwarfing the impressive bastions on their way... More

We came upon the Upper Barraka gardens by accident - they are a spacious area near the large bell that rings at midday, and overlook the Grand Harbour. There's a fountain, a statue of 3 children running, the gardens and a portico area all around which keep you cool. This area also overlooks the cannons one of which is shot... More

Fantastic location and garden area. Magnificent views across the grand harbour 3 cities and Valetta. Also access to the Lascaris war rooms which are worth visiting. Every day a canon is fired at 12 midday and at 4pm in ceremonies called the firing of the noonday gun and the sunset gun. Good time to go when the gun is being... More

The gardens are not particularly large, but well maintained and pleasant. You get good views over the battlements and part of the harbour. You can also the lift down to the waterfront to see the cruise ships, if they are in port.
