My hubby and I regularly come here to have fish and chips. We either sit on the many seats available along the beach or sit in the car and watch the wildlife(people). We have moved away from the area but at least once a month we visit for a meal or fish and chips. The locals are very friendly. The... More

Loved the cafes and sat sipping champagne enjoying the surrounds watching the world go by whilst waiting to go to wedding reception.

Altona beach is great you can take a nice walk on the Pier where you can fish. There are a lot of shops to get food from. The sand is beautiful and so is the water. Very great location

I love the Altona beach - it is a great place to be... The strand is very shallow so on warm days you can sit in the water to cool down without having to swim all the time. The surfers/ kite-surfers are separated from the swimmers to avoid accidents and I love watching the kite surfers. In the Pier Street... More

its nice beach and good place to go for a morning jog. Also, late in night it looks majestic. There are some good restaurants nearby to eat as well.

Altona is a metropolitan beach, not really anything to wax lyrical about, they're all the same. You wouldn't travel half way around the world to visit however many have come a long way to live there. Being an inner city beach it's crowded on a hot day, that's generally due to the fact that lots of people live in cities... More

Recently discovered this beach. Absolutely beautiful and tranquil setting hidden in Altona bay. We walked along the esplanade on the weekend. Water is absolutely crystal clear. Lovely place for a nice stroll and also to run dogs. Mind you there is council guideline as shown on the sign near the guard house that dogs have to be on the leash... More

Such a shame but the beach has an issue with pollution. Especially if it has rained recently. Good beach to walk your dog but that's about it.
