It's a black beach!

Really where else can you see a black beach? Not too many places, which is why it is worth the drive to see it. It's just sort of fascinating because it is so unique and when you are used to seeing light colored beaches, it's cool to see something completely different. It's a beautiful spot, that's all that needs to... More

This is definitely something to have on your bucket list. It's a really strange sight when you're someone used to white or yellow sand beaches. This beach is straight up black - just like you're walking through ash. It's beautiful. I was there in late March, and it was still quite cold and crazy windy. If you go, try and... More

This beach, and everything else I saw in Iceland (which was nowhere near enough!) merits a return trip; something I don't do often as there is a lot of World to see yet. The basalt formations were fascinating! I suppose one could say that all there is to do is look, take photos and pick up a few polished black... More

Tarmac road leads to car park. Walk of 100 meters over a 'boring' boulder field leads to jet black beach with staggering geological formations. Apparently amongst top ten beaches in world as voted by some magazine. Easy to see why.

Very rough seas with high waves crashing onto the beach, along with an amazing site of huge lumps of crystal clear ice and icebergs being wash up. A free attraction and a must see. Black sand, waves and Ice - very different from white sand, waves and shells!!

Arriving the beach was quite easy, as it is well indicated. It is a 15 minutes drive from Vik and then entering through a very small group of houses. Once in the beach, you can see the beautiful basalt formations, as well as the Three Trolls, and far away on the other side Dyrholaey. It is a place to get... More

This place is so different than anywhere else in the world! It's a beautiful beach with the 3 trolls (tall rock structures just off the beach) to the left of it. The square structures on the cliffs are just mind blowing!! With 2 huge caves to stand in as well the place is just a photographers dream! We went around... More

It's something you do not see often...a beach filled with different colors icebergs, raging from pure white to heavenly blue! a paradise for photo shooters. In the winter carefull with the sea... don't go near the breaking water or you might get your feet wet...

This is an incredibly beautiful beach - expansive with great surf against a stark but beautiful shoreline.
