Must do when in Iceland, if only to see how the locals party

Worth a visit, kind of quaint and quirky, if your not used to Icelandic culture, it can be quite an unusual experience, but most people we met were friendly. Quite a lot of drunken people turf out onto the streets at closing, but we didn't see any trouble.

Was hoping this would be kinda cool, it looked enticing from outside. The bar staff on the night that we visited was not very friendly and it seemed we were stopping them having a conversation with a colleague. It was a Sunday night though and it was very quiet. Maybe try again on another visit

My boyfriend & I went to this bar every night while we were in Iceland. It was a friendly bar with a relaxed atmosphere... Most of the time! We too saw the roaming dog - in fact two different dogs on two nights but both were friendly enough. On the Monday evening of our visit there was a choir rehearsing... More

We ended up in Kaffibarinn following the Sonar festival. It's a great bar and very lively with decent music and drinks (Kaldi). I wasn't so keen on the female queue jumping that was accompanied by screeching so loud some wild dogs in Canada thought they were in for an easy ride. Overall the locals are great fun, really friendly and... More

After a relatively tame night out, we were sedately walking home when we decided to step in to Kaffibarinn for a night cap. It's a busy bar, full of locals of all ages, playing eclectic music (Naughty By Nature - OPP had us all dancing). It's great for a lively drink with a mixed crowd - the atmosphere was definitely... I had a good experience at this bar on a previous trip to Reykjavik so recommended it to my friends on a return visit. A dog roamed around the very busy bar, which was quite upsetting for a friend as she was allergic. My friend took a photo of me at our table, and a staff member rushed over and... More

Its a bar that sells beer, cocktails and anything else you fancy to drink. Happy hour is great for draught beer. Free snacks too! Pleasant staff and helpful, local or tourist, no difference. Worth a trip if you just want a beer without pretentiousness.

Kaffibarinn is hyped as one of the oldest and coolest bars you should visit. It is worth a visit earlier on in the evening, where you still have some cool people around. Later on in the evening, you feel a temperature change and mood change within the place. What was nice and good fun, turned in a place we couldn't... More

Had a couple of good beers in this bar on a recent visit to Reykjavik. Very chilled, good music, nice mix of people. Looked like there was an area on the side where you could make your own waffles if you fancied it. What more could you want!

Stopped here for a beer and paid UK price as it was on special until 1am!! Enough said. Cosy place with a very gothic look. Would come back
