This is basically a large walk-in freezer, which has some large blocks of ice for you to sit on. Once the member of staff who came in with us had served our drinks, he disappeared and we didn’t see him again. The free drink (which wasn’t really free because we paid the equivalent of £10 to get in), was 1... more
Upon planning our trip to Iceland, I was hoping to find that a ice hotel existed somewhere on a glacier, but no such luck (closest one is in Norway, I believe). I read about the Ice Bar, and knew we had a to make a stop in. The bar is right next to a nice restaurant which serves a great... more
Its name is correct......... inside is a horizontal object covered in ice ! How the guy who runs this scam can sleep at night I don,t know.To call a store room, with a few slabs of ice in it and a couple of frozen lumps as chairs,an ice bar, is beyond me.The local council and tourist information bureau should check it... more
Last year my husband and visited Iceland for our 7th time and one of the things we missed was the Icebar on our last vacation. The last night in Reykajavik we went to the Backroom Freezer and we were extremely disappointed. It was great for picture taking and to say been there done that, but save your Kronas and have... more

For the price of admission (1200 kr), you get a quilted overcoat, a few minutes, and a rather poor lemonade-type drink. I don't think I would have minded it so much if the room was a little nicer. The ice blocks... more
We have wanted to go to the Ice Hotel in Sweden for a long time, but we were in Reykjavik and thought that this sounded fun. Maybe it was because we were there slightly off season, but the ice blocks along the walls did not go to the ceiling (about a meter short) and the "bar" portion was about a... more
It was a fun experience... I think people who expect it to be a "bar" will be disappointed, but if you embrace the gimick, you'll have fun. They give you big poncho type "coats" and gloves, and you can step out if it gets too nippy, but it's a fun place to go for a drink and a real taste... more
Absolute garbage. They basically turned their walk-in freezer into an ice bar. It totally sucks. Get a bottle of vodka and stand outside in the cold instead. They charge about $20 a person just go in. more
Having arrived in Rekjavik, The Ice Bar was our first night out, as it was just up the road from our hotel. The Red carpet was laid out, (we are not famous!) I was part of a large group, and therefore, we were not all allowed into the Ice Bar together. You need to leave your coat and they give... more
