I hadn't read much about this place except great reviews, and after my visit, I can easily say that if you' can only see one place in Iceland, this is the place! I' haven't seen anything like it ever before. More than my words, here's a short film which better describes the experience of the whole trip- http://youtu.be/JSXlT_xvLko This is... More

We turned up under our own steam to go on this trip as we were staying in Hvergerdi and the pick up was in Reykjavik, I had been quite worried about this trip as I am overweight and didn't know if I could do it or not, so for a month and a half before we went on holiday I... More

What a COOL experience. We first saw this on a TV show a few months before we left for Iceland and decided to tack it onto our itinerary. You hike out to the volcano and see some amazing scenery along the way. When you get there you have some traditional meat soup which was delicious and needed after the hike.... More

One of the first things they will tell you is that more people have climbed Everest than have been Inside the Volcano...Just swallow that for a second. Yes, this is an expensive tour but it is worth every penny. The bus ride from Reykjavik is about 30 minutes. They get you suited up in rain gear if needed (we did... More

If you have any interest in earth sciences, this is a MUST SEE. Our 16 year-old daughter and 18-year-old son loved it as much as we did. Truly a marvel. Our guide Opa (spelling?) was fantastic. She was incredibly knowledgeable and we enjoyed her company. The people that organize this know their stuff. As a person who enjoys geology this... More

Inside the Volcano was an amazing, unique and challenging experience! I would recommend this to anyone looking for an unusual and exciting adventure. It can't be stressed enough, however, to be prepared for terrible conditions on the hike up and down. The hike itself was not difficult and the path was well marked. BUT, the sustained rain and winds were... More

This is definitely something you should experience as it's quite the phenomena. There really is no other place like this and well worth the expense, approximately $100/hour. The website recommendations to wear more than sneakers and jeans was spot on. The hike out to the volcano is not for the meek. They have done a lot of work to the... More

Amazing experience to see inside a 4500 year old volcano. Plus Saga makes the best Icelandic meat soup!

Couldn't agree more with everything said before this review - something you definitely should do. That said, the trek up and back is quite challenging - and yes the wind was fierce. First, waterproof HIKING boots are needed. I had substantial tennis shoes but once they got wet it was quite unpleasant. The path, where there is one, is small... More

I highly recommend if you are in Reyjkavik experiencing the Inside the Volcano tour. We were put in a group of about 15 people. After about a 3 mile hike over fairly rough volcanic terrain you arrive at a building where they suit you up with rappeling gear and a helmut. Then groups of up to six are lowered into... More
