If you go to Reykjavik, please consider taking this trip. It is expensive for a 6 hour day trip, but they have quite an operation going on there. All equipment was flown by helicopters. They must have generator to light the cavern. They have even put a window cleaning elevator so you can confortably go into the volcano. They provide... More

Going 400 feet inside of a volcano is not something you can do everyday. We had a 45 minute hike to get there. While there is not much climb in elevation, the hike is a bit strenuous because you are walking across a lava field that is completely uneven. You must wear good shoes with ankle support and watch your... More

This was just incredible, a once in a lifetime experience!!! My sister and I went on this trip while I was 7 months pregnant and she was visiting from Denmark. My ankles were swollen and I had dressed too well for the long walk across the lava field (woolen sweater and a warm all weather jacket) and it was a... More

I decided to make the trip to Iceland after seeing the website for this. It's not far from Reykjavik, the tour bus takes about half hour to get to the start of the walk. You walk for about 2 miles across lava fields. It's very rocky so if you're the sort who doesn't think something as amazing as seeing the... More

The tour literally is as the title suggest. You take a 45 min hike to the top of a volcano where you are fitted with gear and briefed on the tour. Then they lower you into the volcano via a crane just like a window washer. The rock formations are a geologist's dream and the staff are pretty liberal about... More

This is defiantly one of the best trips I've ever done and I highly recommend it! I booked the trip before I got to iceland but as with any of the trips there its easy to book from your hotel/hostel as long as it isn't fully booked. I would recommend booking before you go so you know you won't miss... More

This must surely be rated one of the top things to do in a lifetime. A brilliant trip, not cheap but worth the money for the unique experience. Quite a hike over a lava field to get to the volcano but that was part of the experience as we had excellent weather and good views. Walking poles proved useful as... More

This is a true journey to the centre of the earth, a unique experience and a must-do on Iceland. It takes a good effort to get there, approx. 1 hour hiking across a lava field, our guide was very good, gave time to get there as well as showed and told about what we passed on the way, in the... I hesitate to give such a raving review as I feel this place should be kept a secret... but it was the most amazing adventure I have been on. The hike was not easy... but not impossible either. There were people of all ages in our group... from 20's to 70's. Walking over the landscape through the clouds and mist... More

Like everything in Iceland, expensive, but this adventure is worth it. Definitely not for the unfit, as it is a strenuous hike mostly based on the uneven ground rather than distance or elevation gain. We did this wearing good trail running shoes, and yes sturdier hiking boots would be preferred but not required. Of course we were blessed with a... More
