Reykjavik art museum is located in three buildings, Kjarvalsstaðir is one of them (directly translated = The place of Kjarval). Kjarval was a very versatile painter and artist, would never have thought many of the paintings were created by the same artist. The Reykjavik Municipal Art Museum (Kjavalsstaoir) is a short walk from the center of town. It's worth the walk. When we visited in August 2011, the two main exhibitions were one on Icelandic horses and another on the great modern Icelandic painter Kjarval.
