At The Cinema, Old Harbour Village No2, are shown quality Icelandic nature films; volcanoes, northern lights, flora and fauna. The Cinema is located in the loft of an old fishermen´s dwellings, where the fishermen used to mend their nets, tar their boats, salt their fish and overnight in bed bunks. Redoing the loft the atmosphere of the old life was kept as much as possible, even so that the salt smell still lingers, but the main object was to provide ideal settings for showing quality Icelandic nature and documentary films. By reading the reviews of our visitors on The Trip Advisor pages it seems that we are having success ...

We arrived at the cinema thinking a show was soon to start but we had looked at the wrong seasonal time. However Vladimir, the film maker, was most kind and screened a the movie for us and a bonus look at the Northern Lights documentary. Both movies were fascinating. We were kept company by Eddie the friendly dog.

The Cinema No. 2 is a really good and cosy place to go. They show really interesting and fun films about Iceland. "The eruption" gives you a inside look into a active volcanic eruption Amazing ! Staff was really nice and helpful. Would recommend for everyone. Great on a rainy Iceland day.

When do you ever get to watch a film with the filmmaker and his dog (at our request) in a living-room like environment? Well, we had the pleasure of watching Chasing the Northern Lights, EYJAFJALLAJÖKULL and BÁRDARBUNGA-HOLUHRAUN (both are recent volcanic eruptions) with the filmmaker himself, Mr. Vladimar Leifsson and his dog Eddie. The films were informative with plenty of... More

They were very accommodating and even changed the film time to fit our schedule. Beautiful setting and very comfortable. We highly recommend stopping by for a film on a rainy day.

We really enjoyed the movies, they show a unique point of view on different topics. Our host, however, was quite serious/cold all the way, we expected smth more familiar. If 2 people are going to a short + long session (4000ISK) it's worth to buy the dvd (3990 ISK) and watch it home instead of going.

What a find! Just steps from my hotel. Choose your movie times, select a baked treat and sit back. No snoozing will happen during any of these cinematography marvels. Comfortable choice of seating including leather oversized, warm and welcoming atmosphere and wonderfully hosted. A don't miss for sure!

I saw films on the Northern Lights and how to photograph them; Eyjafjallajökull; and how Iceland was formed. The emphasis is on beautiful photography rather than a heavy documentary. Once or twice computer icons appeared on the screen. However, the great thing is the atmosphere of the cinema. It is in a former fishermen's hut where you can sit on... More

My mother and I stopped in here at the last minute, and it was a great decision. It was not what I was expecting; the viewing room was a large room with comfortable couches. It really does feel cozy. The woman who showed the film was also very friendly. She gave us some insight into Iceland as well as some... More
