Description: Icelandic Mountain Guides is Iceland's premier adventure tour operator...
Icelandic Mountain Guides is Iceland's premier adventure tour operator. For over 20 years we have been in continuous operation of offering adventures in the wilderness of Iceland and Greenland. The company was established in 1994 by four young mountain and outdoor enthusiasts and pioneers whose aim was to introduce the wonders of Icelandic nature to travelers from all over the world. We started by offering Glacier Walks in Skaftafell and later on Solheimajokull. Hiking, backpacking and other adventures and expeditions in Iceland and Greenland soon followed. Today Icelandic Mountain Guides is a company that offers adventure tours ranging from short day tours to longer multi-day expeditions in the great outdoors in both summer and winter. So whether it is the exploration of the icescapes of glaciers, crossing of impressive highlands, trekking in the extraordinary rhyolite massifs or hiking in fascinating valleys, our aim is to Make Every Moment an Experience.

Great tour! Small groups means you get more interaction with the tour guide. Due to weather, we did the tour in reverse and I think it was better. After the glacier walk, we got to soak in the hot springs! Bring hiking boots (ankle support is necessary) - they do offer boots but you might get a blister since they're... More

I traveled to Iceland in a group of 8 family members and we had an amazing day on the ice with Arnie and Marta. We are a loud and rowdy group and Arnie and Marta were out to have a good time with us. We all climbed two ice walls before we hiked to an ice cave where two members... More

It is a very nice trip, where you see and learn a lot about volcanos. Craters, geothermic heat/stram/mud and get to crawl through a lava tunnel. You also see the peninsula, and the guide tells of the 'not so good old days. We stopped in a fishing villige a had a great lobster soup. Much better than my sandwich! The... More

We booked the Blue ice Experience tour and met up with our guide Tinna at the Skaftafell Visitor Center. She took us on a fun-filled glacier walk at Svinafelljokull. It was not a difficult hike, lasted a little over 2 hours, and I got used to walking with the crampons after a little while. Tinna was knowledgeable and friendly, gave... More

We did the "Essential Iceland" private super jeep day tour. There were 4 of us in the car. The tour was totally amazing and exceeded our expectations. We definitely saw the best of Iceland including driving over the glacier, Pingvellir National park (where the vikings used to hold their parliament and meetings which is awesome) Volcanos and a trip into... Our guide, Vi∂ar, took us off the beaten path to share some of the most spectacular scenery in the world with no crowds. Using a "super jeep" for access, followed by hiking we walked on glaciers, marveled at waterfalls and just took in the beauty of Iceland. We credit Vi∂ar for being able to calibrate the trip to our mood,... More

Exploring the Wilderness - Part 1-2 - IMG384 (7 days) + In the Shadow of Vatnajökull - IMG49 (5 days) I took this tour this summer and I was pleasantly surprised of a number of things. IMG is a wonderfully organized company that has a lot of experience in this sort of things so, unless nature chooses differently everything that... More

https://www.re.is/day-tours/fimmvorduhals-volcano-hike I booked this 26km day hike with Reykjavik Excursion ( Partner with Icelandic Mountain Guide ) , it starts from stunning Skogafoss waterfall, passing more than 24 beautiful waterfalls, several epic snow paths, steaming lava field with glacier, some narrow paths then all the way to amazing Thorsmork. It was definitely my favorate day in my deeply loved Iceland... More

I'd echo TheShis's review on this site that this company is poor in informing customer the route conditions, right gears and precautions in advance which misled people to think it is a regular activity for the most. There isn't any health condition survey form/checklist like other formal tour organizers would have provided. The day turned out to be our worst... More

Our group consisted of people who were fearful of almost everything or a bit whiney.. and one super adventurous person. We all had a blast. We went to the Hot Springs and Lava Cave as well as the Summer Adventure Hike. I thought the guides were calm and or course the scenery, humbling, stunning and exhilerating all at the same... More
