Description: Icelandic Mountain Guides is Iceland's premier adventure tour operator...
Icelandic Mountain Guides is Iceland's premier adventure tour operator. For over 20 years we have been in continuous operation of offering adventures in the wilderness of Iceland and Greenland. The company was established in 1994 by four young mountain and outdoor enthusiasts and pioneers whose aim was to introduce the wonders of Icelandic nature to travelers from all over the world. We started by offering Glacier Walks in Skaftafell and later on Solheimajokull. Hiking, backpacking and other adventures and expeditions in Iceland and Greenland soon followed. Today Icelandic Mountain Guides is a company that offers adventure tours ranging from short day tours to longer multi-day expeditions in the great outdoors in both summer and winter. So whether it is the exploration of the icescapes of glaciers, crossing of impressive highlands, trekking in the extraordinary rhyolite massifs or hiking in fascinating valleys, our aim is to Make Every Moment an Experience.

This was amazing. A great balance of must-see sights and fabulous, longer hikes in the spectacular highlands. We saw it all -- waterfalls, sweeping plains, glaciers, fjords, hot springs, mountains, puffins and even lunched on a volcano, still warm from its last erruption. Because it was early in the season (we left July 1), some planned routes were still closed... More

I took the combination glacier walk/ice climbing tour with Johnathan as our guide. It was a four hour tour, which was a perfect amount of time to explore the glacier. It's absolutely stunning and all the staff make sure you feel comfortable and go at your own pace. I can't speak highly enough of the staff; they were incredible and... More

Wasn't quite sure what to expect when I signed up for IMG12 (3-hour walk where you meet at Cafe Solheimajokull). Some of the older reviews of this group were pretty bad, with many people claiming the guides didn't care about the stragglers, didn't explain things, etc. Ours was EXCELLENT. Jonathan, a native Kiwi, took about 12 of us onto the... More

I took the Blue Ice Walking tour (3h) of the Svinafellsjokull glacier. You are provided with crampons and ice picks. If you need, boots can be rented at the offices before leaving. Instructions to put crampons and to how to walk safe are given in a simple manner, so everyone feels comfortable with the new "feet". My guide was really... More

This was voted by my 3 college kids as the coolest thing we did while in Iceland. Now that is saying something as we were non-stop!!! We hiked for 4+ hours with another couple and our guide. The 2 hour hike you would miss some things and the 7 hour would have seemed too long. We were all fitted with... More

Great day! Had a great guide willy (sorry if spelled wrong ) morning tromping around vents in volcanic area, including dip in natural hot spring. Afternoon with ice axe and crampons on a glacier...plus two waterfall visits and an amazing drive.

We used this company to do the 2.5 hours guided tour on Falljokull Glacier. Our guide, Dan, originally from Scotland, was wonderful and attentive to everyone's need in our small group of 9 ranging from âge 8 to 68. He gave us much information about the glacier. We used crampons to walk our way through the ice, looking at amazing... More

We took the Blue Ice Walking tour of one of the arms of the Vatnajokull glacier. We were fitted with crampons and picks .and given instructions on their use before we left for our 2 hour walk. Those who didn't have proper footwear rented them for 1000 krona. The guide was great. Along the way he stopped several times to... More

We booked the glacier walk from Sólheimajökull with Icelandic Mountain Guides and had an incredible time. We had a rental car and met up with our guide as explained on the website. Our group was made up of 7 people, which was a really nice size. Our guide, Þorsteinn, helped us with gear and provided an overview of what we... More

We took the 4 hour walking tour (Glacier Adventure - IMG22) on the Svínafellsjökull glacier where they filmed part of 'Interstellar', and part of the 'Batman' trilogy. Our group was small (10 people) and our guide was friendly and knowledgable. The scenery of the glacier itself and the surrounding area was in one word, 'epic'. We started at the easier... More
