Description: Icelandic Mountain Guides is Iceland's premier adventure tour operator...
Icelandic Mountain Guides is Iceland's premier adventure tour operator. For over 20 years we have been in continuous operation of offering adventures in the wilderness of Iceland and Greenland. The company was established in 1994 by four young mountain and outdoor enthusiasts and pioneers whose aim was to introduce the wonders of Icelandic nature to travelers from all over the world. We started by offering Glacier Walks in Skaftafell and later on Solheimajokull. Hiking, backpacking and other adventures and expeditions in Iceland and Greenland soon followed. Today Icelandic Mountain Guides is a company that offers adventure tours ranging from short day tours to longer multi-day expeditions in the great outdoors in both summer and winter. So whether it is the exploration of the icescapes of glaciers, crossing of impressive highlands, trekking in the extraordinary rhyolite massifs or hiking in fascinating valleys, our aim is to Make Every Moment an Experience.

Wonderful experience with great guide. Took the Solheim glacier walk on May 21. Our guide Johnny not only knew his way around the ice but also knew his Geology, Physics and History of the glacier which made it an interesting and educational experience. Had a 30 min hike out to the glacier, and about 2 hours on the glacier in... More

Unless you're an avid mountaineer or regular expeditioner constantly seeking out adventures, there are few opportunities to get an experience like this one. It's not everyday you can hike on Europe's largest glacier (Vatnajokull), which is what we did with Icelandic Mountain Guides. We opted for the 2-3 hour Blue Ice Tour, one of their most popular tours, which wasn't... More

My husband and I experienced glacier hiking for the first time on a tour with Icelandic Mountain Guides. I figured that I would have a knowledgeable guide but never expected to have a scientist take us out! Jono was informative in so many ways and taught us about volcanoes, Icelandic culture, geology, the nature of ice and so much more.... More

I took the Glacier Hike tour with my 10 and 11 year old boys. It was an amazing! The guides Tom and Ari were very helpful, informative and patient. They were excited to have a couple kids on the trip and took the necessary steps to ensure their safety. The boys had lots of questions about the gear, the ice,... More

Highly recommend the 'Walk through Ice and Fire' expedition with this company, if you are visiting Iceland. Hot springs, breathtaking scenery and a glacier trek. An incredible experience. The guide we had (Max) was excellent - very knowledgeable, highly professional. A good value for money excursion.

We joined the Walk through Ice and Fire Tour on 12th April during our Iceland trip. Luckily there was only six of us so we were kind of having a private tour, which gives out loads of flexibility depends on us. We spent our day with Tom, who is a brilliant tour guide in our eyes. Although the tour is... More

We spent 4 hours on the glacier with Tom and aknor. What an incredible afternoon we had. Walking along the ridge with a crevasse on either side with the ropes was definitely one of the highlights! It was such a nice day we even just had t-shirts on at one point until the sun disappeared.... How often can you say... More

My boyfriend and I decided to take a semi-private day tour with Icelandic Mountain Guides. It cost us about £230 each, but was worth every penny! Our guide Vidar, was hugely knowledgeable and entertaining, (not to mention properly trained on mountain guiding), and there was only 1 other person on the trip. The transport was by super jeep which was... More
