Icelandic Mountain Guides is Iceland's premier adventure tour operator. For over 20 years we have been in continuous operation of offering adventures in the wilderness of Iceland and Greenland. The company was established in 1994 by four young mountain and outdoor enthusiasts and pioneers whose aim was to introduce the wonders of Icelandic nature to travelers from all over the world. We started by offering Glacier Walks in Skaftafell and later on Solheimajokull. Hiking, backpacking and other adventures and expeditions in Iceland and Greenland soon followed. Today Icelandic Mountain Guides is a company that offers adventure tours ranging from short day tours to longer multi-day expeditions in the great outdoors in both summer and winter. So whether it is the exploration of the icescapes of glaciers, crossing of impressive highlands, trekking in the extraordinary rhyolite massifs or hiking in fascinating valleys, our aim is to Make Every Moment an Experience.

Our guide, Villi, was prompt and very informative with his country's history, culture, and geography. He provided excellent commentary during the drive as well as at the various sites during our tour. He also provided some metal shoe grips for our walks though the ice and snow. We were very grateful for them as they made an excellent addition to... More

Henrique (not sure about name spelling - sorry!) was the best! He was upbeat, helpful and ready to answer any question you had - I felt safe and well-guided with him. We went on the glacier walk/iceland meal/northern lights tour. The waterfalls we saw were majestic - one during the day with a nice walk to the top, and one... More

This was by far the highlight of our time in Iceland. To have done this 3 hour hike through the glacier was one of the most unique and amazing experiences of my life. Our guide Raquel was lovely. Enthusiastic, friendly, passionate, and incredibly easy to get on with. She had so much to say about the glaciers and about her... More

This was a great Golden Circle trip. Not only did it include all the normal stops, but also a dairy farm (with ice cream & hamburgers), tomato farm, spa, & dinner. We got to see a calf drop on the farm tour. Homemade soup at the tomato farm. Lovely relaxation in the spa before dinner. Lamb was the best! The... More

Even though I cancelled the day before a reserved glacier hike from Skaftafell National Park, and didn't get to experience this activity with these folks, Icelandic Mountain Guides were so great about my cancellation that I felt them worthy of a 5-star review! My daughter and I were in Iceland for 2 weeks, driving clockwise around the whole country, and... More

Had an amazing glacier walk this morning. Although both of us were a bit nervous, we felt safe with our guide who told us so many interesting things and stories about glaciers and anything else about Icelands nature and culture. We would recommend a glacier walk with this company to anyone, and ask for Hendrik! Emma and Melissa

Thoroughly enjoyed our 'walk on the ice side' trip run by Icelandic Mountain Guides. We departed from Reykjavik on a comfortable mini bus. When we arrived at the glacier, we were met by the guides who were very friendly, organised and informative. They fitted our crampons and taught us how to use them. We had a lovely walk across the... We were in Reykjavik for Christmas and New Year holiday for 1 week. We wanted to have a glacier walk and bought one in the Trip.is office (one of the tourism information offices that also sells tickets for daily excursions) in the centre of the city. We bought a Solheimajokull Glacier Walk tour for 30th of December that would start... More

I was a little apprehensive at first booking this tour because of the cost. It was twice as much as others but I wanted a small group and I am so happy I booked with Mountain Guides. There were 14 total in a comfortable van. Matt our guide was very professional, happy and knowledgeable. We went to the National Park,... More

We had a very unic day with Mountain Guides, Stefan picked us up, and drove us all the way to the glaciar, he is very nice and told us so many things about The area. At the glaciar we met Margaret, she is amazing and very profesional, it was only 2 of us (since we missed the 1st tour) and... More
