We treated ourselves while in Iceland and signed up for the glacier hike with the Icelandic Mountain Guides. It's a little pricier than we normally spend for excursions, but it was totally worth it. We had a little confusion with the bus pick up and trying to find the correct bus at the BSI terminal. We were on a small... More

We had such a great time on this tour. The guides were friendly and very informative. Everything went smoothly - including the pick up! The hike isn't very strenuous, the views are breathtaking & the glacier reflects a beautiful blue-like colour (only in winter though!). We brought our lunch with us and ate on the coach before the hike. The... More

Brilliant day! We are a family of 4 with a 12 and 14 year old. We all loved this day out. The bus pick up from hotel was perfect, the bus journey along the south coast was stunning, the information from the driver was very informative, the mountain guides team at the glacier were true professionals - definitely recommended. The... More

Had an wonderfull day out . We had a mountain guide that was very good, he was experienced and informative . Weather was excellent. The best trip on Iceland! Only downside is take a packed lunch with you as it is not provided and only place to buy something is in petrol station with not a lot of choice! Make... More

When we first decided we were going to Iceland this was at the top of my to do list and it did not disappoint! Even before we arrived in Iceland the Icelandic Mountain Guides staff were very helpful and professional when I sent an email asking what sort of clothing we would need and if anything was available for hire.... I wish I could do this again! If you have the chance, go! You'll be provided with cramp-ons, harness, and ice pick. You don't need 'special' shoes, just good hiking shoes, or sturdy snow boots, basically not trainers or Uggs. Wear the warmest clothes you have, particularly socks and gloves. As you're moving, that will keep you warm to an... More

A long day but a great day. 8.30 pick up, bus to the glacier with a stop off for food and the restrooms . 3 hours. Guides were most helpful with crampons and harness fitting and for those who arrived without waterproof hiking boots... Uggs !! Boots were on offer as were water proof trousers. Beware it is very cold... More

Went on the walk on Dec. 3, 2013 with my daughter and her girlfriend. Didn't know what to expect really. Was pleasantly surprised by how helpful the guides were. Our guide, Margaret was so patient and had such a fun personality. I loved every minute of the hike except when the blizzards hit, but they wouldn't last but about 10-15... More

The Glacier Walk was the highlight of our trip to Iceland! We did this tour on Dec 3, 2013. The views were amazing. The ice was a beautiful shade of blue dotted with black ash. The weather was dynamic to say the least, wind, snow, sun and hail but exciting for this southern girl. It was an informative and exciting... More

Beautiful views. We had a perfect day with both sunshine and snow. Wrap up warm, if the wind gets up it will spoil the experience if you haven't got enough flesh covered. We had a highly educated and passionate guide from Poland. Following his footsteps, it was a leisurely pace but you do need a degree of fitness for the... More
