We take an easy walk on crampons up on to the ice field where a wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges and deep crevasses awaits discovery. « less

Where do you get the opportunity to drive to the foot of a glacier and do a 3 hour hike on it? Iceland of course. The walk on the ice side tour provides a guide that takes you to interesting parts of the ever changing glacier. They fit you out with relevant material including hiking boots if required and give... I'm not a particularly outdoorsy person but my boyfriend really wanted to do this while we were in Reykjavik so I was roped in - and I'm really glad I did! The drive out of the city was accompanied by a larger group who were on a tour of the south of the island, so you get a nice talk... More

I booked "Take a Walk on the Ice Side" with Icelandic Mountain Guides. I was picked up from my hostel by Reykjavik Excursions, which took care of taking me and everyone who booked this adventure to the Sólheimajökull glacier (about 3 hours away from Reykjavik). This excursion was definitely the highlight of my trip to Iceland. It was both surreal... More

My friend and I did the glacier walk on our recent tripto Iceland. It was one of the best travel experiences I've ever had! We booked through Reykjavik Excursions who picked us up from our hotel in the city centre. It was quite a journey but well worth it. Reykjavik Excursions drove us to the glacier and dropped us off.... More

This summer in Iceland, I went on one of Reykjavik Excursions' tours - take a walk on the ice side - and it was amazing! I had been looking very much forward to the tour, and with good reason. The guide in the bus was really good and i learned a lot about the icelandic culture, history and the society... More

This was a great tour of the southwest part of Iceland AND a glacier hike. The hike was a great experience and one that we will remember forever. It's truly an adventure hiking on crampons throughout the glacier fields (and volcanic ash) and seeing crevasses and wonderful colours. I highly recommend this for those that wish to have a little... We booked directly through Icelandic Mountain Guides, who were excellent. We were a bit apprehensive about the level of skill required but the walk was not difficult. The glacier was magnificent, on a sunny summers day. Our guides were professional and very informative. Take a packed lunch and a cup to taste the wonderfully fresh water off the glacier! I... More

This glacier hike was amazing! Tour guides were very knowledgeable and prepared. Skill level required was very basic but you need to be in shape to walk for 3 hours on the glacier. Overall I would recommend this tour to anyone. The glaciers are slowly melting so make sure you go before its too late! More

We did this glacier trek in wonderful sunshine, brilliant blue skies, but it must of easily been over -10! With a bitter wind, it was very cold and so you have to dress accordingly which we were. The road to the glacier was impassable & so to get to the bottom of it, we had to walk which in its... More

This is an absolute MUST if you're visiting Iceland!! This was probably the coolest thing I've ever done . . . but please make sure you adequately prepared!! Waterproof or all-weather shoes are a necessity!! The wind and hail were pretty insane, so thick pants (ski pants) and gloves are highly recommended. My friends and I were a little concerned... More
