Less than two hours drive from Reykjavík is Eyjafjallajökull glacier, and just a little further the Sólheimajökull glacier tongue extends down from Mýrdalsjökull. We take an easy walk on crampons up on to the ice field where a wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges and deep crevasses awaits discovery.

100% worth the day. The glacier hike was absolutely breathtaking; also superbly organized and well-facilitated by Jono, who knew his stuff and threw in just the right amount of breaks to get a breather and learn a little about the physics, history, and future of the glacier. The stops at both waterfalls were quick but exciting. You can walk right... More

After reading good reviews booked this trip through mountain guides. Due to bad weather out tour was cancelled - we had a weekend with bad storms. But would recommend based on communication and ease of refunding cost of cancelled trip. With the weather in Iceland being as unpredictable as it is it is good to know that the company make... More

This was by far and away the highlight of our holiday. The bus journey to get there was fairly long but the tour guide on the bus was very informative and made the trip much better by giving interesting facts along the way. The walk on the glacier was incredible, the views were amazing and the tour guide was very... More

A great day. Guided well- answering questions, right amount of geography and fun! Taken a different route to other groups. Stopped for photos occasionally- not too often but just enough! I think each trip would be a unique experience!

This was a great trip. We did it 4 years ago when our kids were too young to do it with us so we wanted to do it again with them. I couldn't believe how it had changed. So apparent are the effects of global warming: it had shrunk significantly! The guide was very informative and we had plenty of... More

I was feeling apprehensive about glacier walking, however, my doubts were unfounded. the guides were very patient explaining how to fit crampons and harnesses. The glacier was stunning and the guide stopped at regular intervals for photo opportunities and to view ice sculptures etc Thanks for a memorable day!!

This was a day to remember. A fantastic excursion with great, informative guides (Anna is brilliant!). The views are breathtaking and no photos will do them justice! I would happily do this excursions again. RE are great with the pick ups and drop offs, which make life so much easier. I would bring food and warm clothes and ski gloves... More

This is an all day experience so make sure you pack some food and wear proper gear (Ski gear recommended and a good set of boots) We booked all of our activities through American Express Travel Concierge and this specific tour was done by Icelandic Mountain Guides; the tour guides were excellent!!! They set up pick up time at 8:00... More

Travelled to the glacier with Reykjavik Excursions for about two hours. When we got off, we met with our friendly guides and we started to get equipped for the challenge. Unfortunately it took us about 40minutes to walk to the glacier as the path to the glacier has been recently changed. Once we got to the glacier, it was stunning,... More

The collection for the tour was to be between 0830-0900. I was waiting in the hotel lobby at 0823. At 0907 I asked my reception team to call the tour operator. It turns out they were in my lobby at 0855 and asked for me at reception, but they didn't actually look at the ONLY man in the LOBBY, me.... More
