Undeterred by rain, fog, and frozen and snow-drifted roads, Thorsteinn safely drove our sixteen-adult group to each and every promised attraction on his Mercedes bus all the while amusing us with onboard narratives and wry comments that made travel times seem shorter. We never had to concern ourselves over finding good lunch spots as he had made prior arrangements with... More

We joined a small group on 16 Jan following a breathaking Aurora Borealis display at the Northern Light Inn the previous night. I didn't think the trip to Iceland could get any better but this was the highlight. Thorsteinn, being a Grindavik resident and former fisherman took us all over the Rekjanes penninsular on the most fantastic geography field trip... More

We toured Iceland in the worst weather; snow, freezing rain, and sleet, however no one felt uncomfortable as our guide gave off an aura of confidence as he drove the van. He is very knowledgeable about the country he loves, providing intelligent insight into the people, geology and history. I would highly recommend Salty Tour to anyone visiting Iceland. We... More

Driving on packed ice? No problem. Giving great suggestions? Yup! Unflappable and patient? Check! Thorsteinn is such a great guide and an all-around gem of a guy. If you want a real experience of Iceland (especially Reykjanes Peninsula - but everywhere else too) be sure to call SALTY TOUR! Ask about their manicures too! :-) More

Salty Tours met us at the airport, it was 6am in Iceland and most of us had already been awake for around 18 hours. It was dark, which wasn't exactly surprising--we'd done our research, but still disorienting. It was a relief to meet our wonderful guide, Thorsteinn, who gathered us up, immediately told us where the coffee was, and whisked... More

Talk about harsh weather?! While we visited Iceland, our weather consisted of snow, sleet, rain, freezing rain, a bit of clearing then all of the above all over again. Our tour guide Thorsteinn couldn't have been cooler and more in control of the bus. His commentary of the area was informative and well explained, his knowledge of the terrain was... More

I have traveled in perhaps the harshest of all weather and felt safe and welcolmed to Iceland. Thorsteinn,is a wonderful guide and has a great sense of humor too! I would book another tour with him and I know that ant time of year in Iceland I would have a wonderful and fun filled vacation! This is my third trip... More

We were collected from the Northern Light Inn at eight o'clock in the morning the bus was on time and the guide Thorsteinn was brilliant. The weather was very bad, snowing and very windy. However he guided us through some very treacherous off the beaten track roads. His driving skills were impeccable, we got stuck a few times but he... More

We took the Wonders of Rakjanes tour with Thorsteinn, and it was the best day of our visit to Iceland. He was so knowledgeable and took us to some amazing hidden gems that I suspect most people never seen on their visits to Iceland. Any trip to Iceland would be incomplete without taking this tour. Free pick up from your hotel is available from Reykjavik. While a tour of the Golden Circle is widely regarded as a "must do" when in Reykjavik, the Reykjanes and Blue Lagoon tour with Saltytour is the hidden gem (possibly due to being listed as an attraction in Grindavik instead of Reykjavik), especially if you only have a couple of...
