I did all my tours in iceland with this company, which was the Hot Golden Circle tour and northern lights tour. They use smaller coaches, appx max 16 - 18 people and the driver who is the guide as well is very friendly and informative. A very nice experience. Rather than being stuck on a bus with 30 - 50... We chose GTI because of the tour size, we did not fancy climbing aboard one of the huge Reykjavik excursion buses and face waiting for every passenger to look around before we could set off again. We went on the hot golden circle tour, our guide was very helpful and informative. He said he was a local history teacher who... More

I spent 5 nights in Reykjavik last week and hoped to see the Northern Lights. I had booked the Northern Lights with GTI for either the Thursday or Friday night. On Friday I was on a tour with another company (excellent tour of the South Coast) and soon after 4.00 p.m. they advised the passengers that they would be going... More

Dear Lynn1962090, I am really sorry to hear that you are disappointed. Our company strives to make the best decisions and we take a very close look at all the forecasts available. We aim at not taking our passengers' money and time when there are low chances of seeing the Northern Lights. The night of February 20th all the forecasts... More

The guide was incredible and the small bus and group allowed an opportunity to mix with and meet people. The tour overran and the guide did not seem bothered at all. So much better than flybus and reykjavik excursions. We did the Hot Golden Circle. Fantastic!

Given my extreme unhappiness with Flybus and Reykjavik Excursions (see my other review), I inquired the helpful staff in my hotel (the Reykjavik Residence, see my review) who recommended Gateway to Iceland. We were supposed to be picked up at 8:30 so we waited out in the cold at 8:30 sharp. The minibus didn't come until 9:15. Despite the lateness... More

A truly fabulous tour company that takes only a maximum of 16 on their mini buses. The driver/guide was very knowledgeable about his country and we learnt a lot of interesting facts on our journey around the golden circle. We visited a secret lagoon at the end which was just amazing, which I doubt the bigger coach trips can reach... More

Their reputation for a high viewing chance may make you lose out. Last night at eight thirty this was the only company to cancel (said the tourist office) with "due to complete cloud cover and low solar activity". We looked up and could see stars. All the other companies went out and today's tour busses were buzzing with how good... More

Enjoyed a snowy day on the Golden Circle with Hilmar. Very knowledgeable guide who gave everyone time to enjoy the sights without feeling pressured to stick to a timetable. Felt very safe with him driving back when the weather suddenly turned very snowy! Had other trips planned with GTI but unfortunately these had to be cancelled due to bad weather.... More

Wow What an excellent tour!!. We has a tour guide called Gummie (I think) and if you get this guy you are in for a treat. He is a fountain of knowledge with very little quite periods. The tour for us was great. We have a minibus of about 16 . The tour was 9 hour and 300km. A great... More

As it was our 2nd trip to Iceland we wanted to explore more of the country. Our hotel tour advisor recommended the South Shore Adventure, with GTI rather than the "large coach" operators, as they offered a more exclusive experience. The tour was excellent, taking in 2 waterfalls and fantastic views of volcanoes, glacier and sea shore. We were often... More
