If walking there from the busy downtown shops and restaurants, give yourself 20 minutes... it's all downhill going but UP on the way back! It's a cool sculpture, but once you've taken your obligatory photo you're pretty much done. If you look to the left (south?) you can see the new Opera House, which is also a cool building. Do... I stopped here to get a few pictures - it was snowing pretty bad while I was there. It was a great view around it. I walked to the sculpture and you do have to cross a busy road. There was a ton of construction around as well, so for walking I did not think it was that great to... More

The back drop makes this piece of art what t is, surrounded by tourists trying to capture the best photo, can you blame them?

Another standard stop on coach tours of the sights of Reykjavik. They get out, take photographs, get back in and move off. What it's 'about', if anything, is anybody's guess.

It´s a beautiful work of art and situated like it´s on it´s way out onto the sea. Beautiful view from where it stands. It´s central and you can take a walk along the coast; sometimes windy and high waves and sometimes calm sea and still. Extremely romantic on a summer night when the sun is getting low. AND costs nothing

A nice piece of art that is both modern and traditional at the same time. Set on the waterfront with the hills / mountains in the background. A nice walk.

We didn't go out of our way to see this but happened upon it on a stroll. It is an impressive sculpture with meaning and interest. I must say that there is so much wonderful artwork and sculptures on practically every building and street in Reykjavik that I was impressed and amazed by it all.

The sculpture is breathtaking. it is a solo element on the waterfront walkway that is so pristine and meaningful to the essence of the culture. And I happened upon it…which enhanced it's intensity. Brilliant!

this is a nice statue passed as you walk along the sea edge, which is a long and flat walk with nice scenery (and possibly a very cold wind depending on the weather). it represents a viking ship and is a nice stop on the walk into town.
