Lovely sculpture sat on the edge of the bay. Only negative is that people like to sit on the steps and it ruins the ability to take a photo.

It was a nice statue but nothing so special. Nice to finally see something Viking related in the capital of a country that was founded by them.

We got up early and took a very cold walk down to see this before the sun rose (10am). Great with the city lights and only a short wander to the new opera house.

Interesting sculpture right on the sea front with magnificent views of the harbour and across the bay and islands to Grundarhverfi and the mountains on the north side of the bay.

Not much to say about this amazing sculpture other than it is a great photo op right on the bay. Do not just drive by it- stop and get some photos up close!

Visited here on the first day I landed in Reykjavik. My guesthouse was a block away from the Church 'hallgrimskirkja' The whole area is totally walk-able, no need for a rental car if you're only staying here for 1 day. (Friends and I rented a car the next day to drive North/West to Snaefellsnes, we booked a 5 day self... More

Iconic sculpture of bronze booking Viking like ship, set on the edge of the harbour. A great place to wander and sit for a rest. Good photo ops.

Of course, it's also the only one that I've seen. Nevertheless, you can't miss this if you're walking along the harbor. It's a nice stop and part of a longer walk among various art pieces. This one is especially nice as it's a fitting contemporary nod to Icelandic heritage.

I saw this as we were driving to another place and deliberately walked back later that day to take pictures. It's a really good sculptural piece and with the bay and mountains behind it you can get fab pictures at certain times of the day when the sky turns red. It was cold with snow on the ground that day... More
