On a recent cruise, one of the stops was at Isafjordur where we took a 3 hour boat excursion to Vigur island. The island has been farmed for 6 generations by the same family. Part of their income is derived from collecting down from the eider ducks which is used in duvets, pillows etc...and are very expensive. The most amazing thing... More

We did the 3 hour Vigur boat tour. We were very happy with it and was also appropriate for our 3 year old. The boat ride is about 35 minutes and then there is a guided walk around the island, finishing with coffee and cakes. We would definitely recommend this tour.

We did two tours with West Tours (and the tour operators they work with) - one to Vigur Island (ostensibly to see puffins) and the other on a "Seals and Hot Springs" kayaking trip. West Tours themselves was great, especially the staff, and the prices were right for what you were signing up for. However, the Vigur Island tour was... More

West Tours delivered 100% on the "Day Hike in the Nature Preserve" tour we did from Isafjordur to Hornstrandir. The company was responsive and friendly during the booking process last March (I booked well ahead of our August trip). On the day of the hike, our guide met us at the dock as pre-arranged. The group was about 12 people... More

I booked a return trip to Hornstrandir with West tours for 130 euros. The boat company Sjóferðir did not arrive for my return trip from Veiðileysifjörður to Ísafjörður. I arrived 3 hours early and waited for the rest of the day. The next day with difficulty I managed to get allowed on board of a boat from another company within... More

In late June I traveled to Hesteryi on the West Tours ferry with a photographer's tour. Somehow my 70-300mm lens slipped out of my bag. It was found a couple of days later and returned to ferry crew. They notified me that they had it and could return it to me. We worked out the arraignments and it's on it's way... More

I did the full-day "moderately difficult" hike in Hornstrandir on July 21. The tour was well-organized and the guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Note that the hike is fairly tough and the weather is unpredictable - you need to be in good shape and have fully weatherproof clothes. Recommended!

We had a great time on the Vigur Island tour. The trip out by boat takes about 35 minutes. On the island you spend about an hour walking about looking at the puffins, Arctic Terns and Eider ducks. Our guide was very informative and had plenty to say about the island, the critters and the farm itself. After the walkabout,... More

West Tours offer so many different tours. We took a tour to Vigur Island to see many Puffins and see the beautiful landscape. The staff at West Tours were very friendly and helped with suggestions on the best tours to take considering the weather and our interests.

Hey Elaine Thanks for taking the time to rate and review you experience with us on Vigur island.
