I did a 3 hour trip to Vigur. Beautiful small island with only 2 permanent residents and thousands of birds, including the aggressive-protective arctic Stern. I won't spoil the anecdotes told by our excellent guide but the bird-life is excellent and probably even more impressive if the weather is good (we had strong showers so we weren't able to stay... I used West Tours to book a visit to Hesteyri in the Hornstrandir peninsula, staying at the Doctors House and would thoroughly recommend them as friendly and efficient, offering excellent value for money. Contact was initially made via email after perusing their website for timetables and price information, and this was followed up by a phone call to confirm the... More

This trip was fantastic! It was a 2.5 hour tour (for about $85 per person), and we were the only two. The guides were super flexible and friendly - we were a little bit late, and they were completely understanding about it. The horses were sweet and good-natured (and very different than American horses - try this if you have... More

The price of about $200 per person includes 1. a 1 hour boat trip in an excellent boat from Isalfjordur to Hesteri, 2. a beautiful 12 km or so guided hike through beautiful, often bog like, irregular, terrain, across an uninhabited peninsula with quaint, restored and unpopulated villages at beginning and end 3. about 2 hour return boat tour through... We took the Arctic fox watching tour on the last day it was available. We were very excited about this trip and it was the single most expensive thing we did in Iceland. I'll list the negatives first: the price was different on the website than it was quoted to me during booking, and no one did anything to set... More

I have been dreaming of visiting this place since I first saw a photo of it 5 years ago, so on our recent visit we booked the trip with West Tours. It is a bit pricey and a very challenging hike BUT it is worth every kronar and drop of sweat. Our guides were very interesting to talk to and... More

Just when you thought it was safe to travel to Iceland (40% more krona to the pound/dollar than pre-crisis levels) along comes a monster rip-off to remind you thar your wallet is indeed still under major assault. West Tours and the travel company Borea, which is one of the companies for whom WT appear to be effectively just operating as... More

Although this tour offers amazing views, I would not recommend doing it unless you are prepared for a very hardcore day of hiking and do not have any problems with your knees. I did the whole thing, and although the hike up is hard going, it is nothing compared with the four hours of descent which comes after this for... More

I took a 4 hour trip to Hesteyri and really enjoyed the visit! You'll sail for one hour each way and have about 2 hours to visit. We had a guided tour to the cemetary and place where the church used to be. Afterwards we were invited to one of the remaining houses and served coffe and some homemade cakes/bread... More

When I signed up for the "King and Queen of Cliffs" hike, I wasn't quite sure what to expect as there was little information online about the particular nature of this tour. It started with a 2.5 hour boat ride through amazing and pristine scenery to the location of the hike. Upon arrival, we disembarked onto a zodiac and were... More
