This place serves the best lamb stew I ever had. I have never been a fan of lamb stew but this one taste soooo good. Probably the best in Iceland. More

We had hired a car and decided to take ourself over to see the waterfalls as some of the organised trips can be pretty expensive. It was well worth it, the drive over is spectacular and numerous geysirs dot the landscape as we drove along the country route. Most of the falls were frozen and had formed an amazing sight.... More

There it's really that much to say. It's one of icelands most popular tourist destinations. It's a very beautiful waterfall about two hours drive out of Reykjavík and it's a place that everybody must see. More

Aka Golden Falls, this is huge double tiered waterfall that is probably the most touristed waterfall, easily drive from Reykjavik. We did a Golden route circle and stayed over the nearby Hotel Gullfoss for a day. We spent the evening walking around Gullfoss. More

This was my second trip to Gullfoss and it was just as great the second time around, you get some great views and its truly an awe inspiring sight, the canteen here is really really good, try to plan it so you have lunch there, its warm and cosy, with free internet and award winning lamb soup! The drive from Reykjavik was amazing with dramatic scenery and snow covered roads yet when we arrived at Gullfoss the waterfalls were absolutely stunning. Part of the falls were frozen and the spray had formed some amazing ice formations. Bright sunshine followed by heavy snow made for some great photo's. Well worth a visit. While you are there try the... More

My friend and I rented a car so we were making our own itinerary around the Golden Circle. We almost missed Gulfoss! What a shame that would have been! Be sure to walk down close to the falls. And when you're standing at the top, remember to turn back and check out the glaciers in the distance. It's an amazing... More
