The gardens included a range of Icelandic and Arctic plants, along with some sculptures and fountains. In June, there was a also a photography exhibit, which had some awesome pictures by and of Icelandic women. The café served a reasonably-priced and very good soup and salad lunch buffet and made a good cappuccino. All in all, a very enjoyable place... More

We were driving through Akureyri on our way to the Western Fjords and decided to make a stop at the botanical garden since the waitress from a restaurant we ate at the previous night told us that it was quite good and worth the visit. We were not disappointed. The garden is free. At one end, there's a nice cafeteria... More

They have some beautiful flowers during the summer, a small botanical garden. Go upstairs to the church, then turn left, it's not far away and it's free.

The gardeners do their best to make this place an oasis of serenity and beauty. Loved walking the paths through the gardens to make our way to downtown. The cafe is excellent, too!

The Arctic Botanical Gardens in Akureyri is very well maintain with various plants and flowers. It is a pleasant place to walk through the gardens specially for photo opportunity. Entering the gardens from the street allow the visitors to walk through the place by gradually walk uphill and eventually exit on its side by the hospital parking lot. The whole... More

These gardens are a short walk from most of the major hotels and shouldn't be missed by garden lovers. They are really well maintained with a large variety of different flowers, shrubs, and trees. All are marked so you know what you're looking at. At the right time of year they are also very colourful. So get some exercise after... More

I had the chance to experience the change of season between late cold spring and sudden glorious warm sun, and the change was astonishing. I am not a particular enthusiast but found myself climbing the church stairs at least once daily and continuing up to the gardens, considering the view my reward. There is a very nice cafe in the... As most Botanical Gardens, this is a very peaceful place, compact but with a good range of the target plants etc. There is a nice little cafe at the top with a sitting out area, welcome as it's a bit of a pull if you walk straight up there from sea level. We took it easy and the walk was... More

Although the spring was late this year there were still some beautiful flowers to see in this small but well maintained botanic garden situated on a hill over the town. As you would expect there are excellent specimens from Arctic and sub-Arctic regions and on the day we visited, the garden was a haven from the cold winds blowing in... More

Nice walk up the hill behind the church to the botanical gardens. Well laid out but maybe we were there a wee bit too early in the season and the gardens were not showing at their best. Maybe a month later and there would be more to appreciate. Also no refreshments available on site until later in the summer season.... More
