Akyreyri city is one of the most beautiful city and place of Iceland! Situated in a fiord, his view, from the east side of fiord, is splendid! If you will traveling with motorcycles, like me, take the road (off road) in the east side of fiord, go to the top of hill, and will see one of the most beautiful... More

Truly inspiring place. Best in Winter when it is snow covered and quite surreal. Snow boots to the ready and have a wonder. So full of natural history and the land of the two tectonic plates!

Different slopes for all, beginners as well as professionals. Teaching available for beginners. Only 10-12 minutes drive from the center of Akureyri.

Hlíðarfjall is a fantastic place to go skiing. The mountain is just a few minutes up from the town of Akureyri.

We did half a day of skiing at Hlidarfjall and enjoyed it. It was a cold day, but there was no wind and the skies were clear, therefore we had a great views of Akureyri. Our equipment hire went smoothly and the staff was helpful to us as we were new to the area. The slopes got quite busy by... More

We were in Akureyri 5 days and had planned to ski at Klidarfjall at least two days. Unfortunately the wind was so fierce that the ski area was not open any of the 5 days! There are no trees and, when the wind blows, it is a total whiteout. I imagine that it would be fun to ski there and... More

Loved it up there, instructor great, fairly easy to get hire items etc. they were very patient with all my emails, especially as the slope was closed due to high winds when we had booked. Be warned though the bus only runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday, they expect you to have a car and want to drive up to the... More

A wonderful place to spend the day skiing or sledging. Great for all ages and abilities. The children's/beginners area is free (just have to pay for ski rental which is reasonably priced). Children are also able to sledge in the area. The cafe area could be improved but it does its job. The views over the town of Akureyri are... More
