I booked the LAKE MÝVATN AFTERNOON & EVENING tour through a conference I was attending. I was travelling alone to Northern Iceland so I wanted a small group that gave me a great experience and a tour operator that was local. My expectations were definitely met! I had a lovely time during the tour, this is a small tour designed... More

In late May, we flew to Akureyi for three nights. At the airport of Day 1, Julli met us for a spectacular day. The Lake Myvatn area is filled with wonders and we enjoyed every minute. Our guide took care to make sure everyone on the trip had a great time and learned about his beloved country. He even added... More

Wear layers, hat, scarf, gloves, weatherproof and waterproof jacket and pants(if possible), bring food and water, bring extra socks and if possible extra shoes. We went on July 9, 2015 and it was snowing. Lake was frozen, we hike thru the snow. Try to visit the Mountain coffee on your way back, to see if you can see arctic blue... More

My husband and I loved this day trip. Julli was our guide and he was so energetic and informative. He also tolerated a lot of questions from us. We had an amazing day. When we showed up for the tour, we got instructions on where to park. Unfortunately they weren't apparently clear and we ended up with a parking ticket.... More

We were fortunate enough to be on a small group tour run by Saga. We really felt like we had an authentic experience being with a local guide (Armann) who was happy to share stories of his life and family in Northern Iceland. We also really appreciated his candour in encouraging us, other travellers we met and other guides and... More

Did this tour as a shore excursion from a cruise ship, Saga picked us up at the pier. Tour was a highlight of our vacation. The guide was a resident of Hrísey island and knew everyone in town. His love of the area was evident and spilled over onto us during the tour. I am not usually a big fish... More

Booked two tours with them. Unfortunately, they failed to get the numbers for one of them, but then offered me an alternative (which was very similar) with some switching around, which was very helpful if then and meant that I didn't have any 'wasted' time in the north (they had advised when I originally booked that they didn't have enough... Instead of booking a tour through the cruise ship that stopped in Akureyri, we decided to go with Saga Travel and did not regret it. Saga Travel provided a very personalized experience and our guide—Hjalti Pall—was amazing (knowledgeable, funny, and very friendly and helpful). We drove around in a mini bus (14 people), which beats the large tour buses usually... More

We had an excellent experience with Saga Travel and I would highly recommend them. I was traveling on a cruise (with a group of 14 people including children) with a port stop in Akureyri. I booked (in advance) a private excursion with Saga Travel to see the Waterfall Godafoss and the Lake Myvatn area. The whole pick-up process from the... More
