We had two great trips with this company, the first (three tunnels) driven by Jon Thor and the second (Myvatn and Dettifoss) by Stefan Gunnar Svavarsson. Both provided a first class commentary of the areas and the history so not only did we see great scenery we also could put it in context. They were very flexible when we wanted... More

On recommendation we booked 2 tours from Akureyri on March 30+31, 2014. The sun shone both days! The three tunnel tour to the fishing villages of Siglufjörður: Jon Thor, the owner, took the two of us up the coast through beautiful scenery, past the calmest fjord, on a 5 hr trip. The roads were clear but snow-covered hills surrounded us.... More

We had booked our tour well in advance of our trip and as you know, the weather in Iceland can be unpredictable. Our tour was scheduled for the day after a major snow storm. To get to Lake Myvatn, you need to go through 3 mountain passes. Our guide called us the day prior to let us know that the... More

I flew into Akureyri to do a Game of Thrones tour with John. I really enjoyed it. I actually think it was one of the highlights of my trip. I got to see the beautiful landscape, many of the areas where Game of Thrones was shot including a gorgeous cave with crystal blue hot water in it, and I found... More

This tour was extremely disappointing. Having told Jon it was our second try at reaching Dettifoss he promised to do his best, "I will get you there" if possible. We had to fly from Reykjavik early in the morning for pick up at 8.00 at Akureyri. We rang the night before as weather had been bad and wanted to know... More

After having travelled with Jonthor before during Summer I decided when coming back to Iceland in Winter that there would only be one option to chose for my Sightseeing-Tour to Lake Myvatn: The Traveling Viking! Me and a friend decided to put the tour at the start of our trip arround Iceland to already get into the right mood for... More

This tour was meant to be the highlight of our Iceland visit but it was the biggest disappointment. Driving around with computer in the car to show us video clips from the GoT is a bed idea and we learned nothing more then we could find ourselves in 10 minutes on the www. We read reviews on Jon, but we're... More

We had the BEST day with Jon ("like Jon Snow") on our Game of Thrones tour! He felt like an old friend immediately, and entertained us all day with stories of trolls and wildlings. He knows so much about the history of Iceland, it's people and it's myths, in addition to knowing everything about the GoT filming in Iceland and... More

Jon did a fantastic job taking us around despite the ever changing weather. Very friendly and had good stories. Would highly recommend this tour and his company!

The Game of Thrones tour was a great day. We saw a number of GoT shooting locations, but the tour involved many other locations, as well - we drove to the Goðafoss waterfall and the Lake Myvatn area and went to thermal baths. It was beautiful to the point that it's hard to describe. Our guide was funny and nice,... More
