Have been to Iceland twice and this is the most outstanding site we have visited. It is a fair drive from Reykavik but well worth it. There are tourist boats you can use to tour the lagoon but you can see plenty from the shore. The lagoon is littered with icebergs that have calved from the glacier at its head.... More

This was a real experience. We were there in November, grey skies, in the middle of a wind storm. In short, it was sooo cold! The Café at Jokulsarlon was closed (normal!) but the stonishing view of the ice glaciers floating on the river ending in the sea, colors white, blue and black sand... It is absolutely great! do not... More

A trip to Iceland would be lacking without a drive through South Iceland to Jokulsarion. We stayed around Hvolsvollur and made the 3 hour drive on a very nice, cloudless day in October, 2012. The drive itself was long but well worth it. Anyone who enjoys photography or hiking should put this on their Iceland trip.

Visited here on the Glacier Lagoon Tour and it is a must if visiting Iceland. You need to dress very warm as although we visited in the late summer the temperature was dropping. The lagoon was -2oC but although still very cold it attracts seals into this Logoon, which is full of rich nutrients from the Glacier and we were... More

I can't imagine what this place looks like on a Sunny day - I was in awe even when it was cloudy. Great place to stop, we walked all around and probably spent around 3 hours. Make sure you go to both sides of the road - it was fun to see all the big glaciers washed up on the... More

We went last week and were surprised that the boat trips were still running and the cafe was open, as both guide books said they closed mid september. I asked and they said it is likely they will stay open until mid November, so it's worth checking out by calling ahead if this makes a difference to you. Going on... More

It's a drive. A long one. But don't let that stop you from seeing one of the most spectacular places on earth. The lagoon is full of icebergs and seals with the glacier looming behind in blue and white. It's cold (if you visit in the spring) with the wind coming off the glacier, so bundle up. The pictures you... More

Don't miss the opportunity to see where the glacier meets the Atlantic Ocean. If you take the boat out into the lagoon, you get up close and personal with Ice that is hundreds, perhaps thousands of years old...For most of us, this will be a once in a lifetime experience. The drive from Reykjavik alone is full of wondrous sights.... More

We went at sunrise and were the only people there. Seals swimming in the water and I felt on top of the world.

Nothing can prepare for the breathtaking experience. The lagoon slowly comes into view as one travels north on the ring road. There are various points where one can stop and have a look at the lagoon. We found that during sunrise, it was best to be on the southern side and during sunset, the best place was near the visitor... More
