Lots to see at this museum, great classic and contemporary works by Finnish artists, and free on Fridays after 4pm. Also the site for the annual Vappu celebration.

Turku Art Museum's permanent collection gives a fine overview of Finnish art - a number of fine pieces, and if you can, follow a guided tour to really enjoy. The current exhibition Ellen Thesleff's interesting and beuatiful paintings is worth a special visit. BTW Helsingin Taidehalli membership gives you free entrance to the Thesleff exhibition.

Impressive building in the Puolalanmäki hill just next to the downtown in the middle of one of the main park in the city. Classical collection of Finland art and changing exhibitions also.

You really find a lot of mixture of the traditional and different arts. Should explore it once. Must recommended

I was really excited to visit this museum since it looks pretty spectacular from the outside. I was a bit disappointed though. Although the exhibitions we saw where interesting and thought-provoking it only took us about an hour and a half to get through it all. One part of the museum was being renovated or rebuilt so that was probably... More

Turku Art Museum is small and cosy. You can pop in Friday afternoon after 17:00 for a free visit. It wont take you more than an hour, but you will enjoy it. And be back.

There were two floors in the museum. If I got it right, the lower floor had the changing exhibition and the upper floor the permanent one. Let's start with the permanent one. I think that it mainly had modern art, but also some classics. The lower floor had Emil Wickströms, who is a famous Finnish sculptor, works. I love them!... More

The Turku Art Museum has a few larger exhibitions annually as well as a good selection of Finnish older and contemporary art. The building itself is wonderful and worth a visit. You can also just pop in for coffee or tea and some pastries. In the summer you can sip your coffee (or drink a glass of wine) on the... More
