I found the botanical garden by accident when I was out exploring Ruissalo with my bike. I had pretty low expectations for the whole thing, but it turned out I was wrong. Although the greenhouse wasn't open when I visited I still found lots to see. There are many different landscapes in this garden so it's very hard to grow... More

We had a great walk with our kids in a nice sunny day. In the outside garden there can be found a great selection of Nordic plants and flowers and some nice layouts of the current season. A few narrow paths with stairs were exiting for the kids. At this time we enjoyed only for the outside garden because of... More

Went 14.35 to the cafeteria. Lunch until 14.30 but food still on the table. "Hello, do u still have lunch?" "Yes, why?" "Sorry was just wondering cause the display says until 14.30." "The display is wrong." "Ah ok. What do you have for lunch today?" "Go and look." .....silence...."ok, ill just have a coffee". Seriously? A grumpy lady that should... More

Been a few times now, has a great range of plants/flowers inside in varying conditions created for the range of fauna they have. I actually managed to notice one plant they didnt have and donated some cuttings for them to use. It can get seriously warm inside in the summer months, so i like to browse outside in the summer... The Botanical Garden on Ruissalo Island offers a beautiful cross-section of nature inside and outside the greenhouses. Ruissalo has one of the mildest climates on continental Finland and the Garden is a foothold of milder climate vegetation in Finland. In the darkest, coldest winter the greenhouses are a wonderful contrast. In spring, summer and fall the whole Ruissalo Island is... More

The staff welcomed us to inside the café and really liked having dog there. If you want to enjoy cafe near Ruissalo stop here. Few years back we were visiting with university student... More

Well, this time the garden could not be as beautiful as in summer time, so we concentrated in the greenhouses. There are plenty of tropical, mountain etc. plants, which also did wait for the winter rest. The rooms are not huge, and I really wait for visiting the garden in the summer time, because it seemed so diversified, allthough without... More
