Entering the archeological site downstairs of this establishment takes you back to the medieval times in Turku. You learn about the life during those days with interactive screens and quizzes. Lots of fun for the whole family. This time we did not visit Ars Nova but will certainly be back and revisit Aboa Vetus as well.

Whether you like your museums focusing on the old stuff or on contemporary art, Aboa Vetus Ars Nova doesn't disappoint. I thoroughly recommend the English language guided tour, which takes you through the medieval excavations as well as the latest contemporary art exhibition upstairs. I personally prefer the new stuff but our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and kept me... More

Absolutely great. We had a private tour in English because we came early just at opening on a week day and Hanna was very knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the archaeology but when we continued to the Contemporary Art museum - the tour was great and helped a lot to understand the exhibit. Te exhibit at the time was... More

We visited this site just out of curiosity and were really pleased to find out that there was an actual historical site in there! A part of Turku that had once been lost under the ground. Also there was a nice art display upstairs with some well known pieces of art. I think that the collection is constantly changing so... More

The museum cafe offers a really nice jazz brunch on saturdays (at 11am). The music and the ambience add to the experience. I have been there several times and will go again (as it is in my home town). Best to queue when it opens. There's also a small museum (excavation and multimedia displays) highlighting the past of Turku.

I have visited this museum many times. Upstairs it features contemporary art collections, which are usually of high quality (this time I visited the Turku Biennale), but what makes this museum unique is the archaeological excavation downstairs, on which the museum is built. It has many tales to tell about city life in medieval times, and as some parts of... More

It was very interesting to visit Aboa Vetus and it's quarter of old houses. The history is told through stories and old objects. You can even listen to sounds of some old instruments. The ruins are located underground so that creates special atmosphere. Nothing like this anywhere in Finland. Ars Nova is collection of installations of different artists. The installations... More

Below the museum is an archeologists paradise where many clues on early life in the town are being unearthed. Excellent guided tour. Above is an art collection with big names on "it makes you think" themes.

We first visited the museum a while ago , but we keep going there quite often, for the events they organize , but mostly for the lovely weekend brunch. One has there 3 in 1 , meaning that the museum self it´s really interesting, but one can have also there a lovely cake&coffee , or a tasty meal. When weather... More
