I don't what it is but when certain amount of time passes and I'm visiting Turku I can visit the castle again. I've done guided tour and also walked there on my own and like it both ways.

We enjoyed taking the tour around the castle. I thought there would be more furniture and artefacts on display as some rooms were quite empty but overall we were very happy with what we saw and learned. There are lots of displays of the castle over the years and it is very interesting to see how it evolved and changed... More

The day trip from Helsinki to Turku was definitely worth it. Turku uses their staff dressed in period costumes to bring the castle to life. Watching the sword fighting demonstration was a highlight. Our tour guide was very good at telling stories to bring Turku's history to life. Now if I could only find the movie "The Girl King" which... More

Turku Castle is a "must see" if you find yourself in this part of Suomi. My trip made it even more "Fairytale" like as it was Snowing hard in the middle of January a while back, therefore adding to the entire ambience of the place. Partically fasinated by your "Kasper Puppets" on display in the Toy Room part of the... More

The museum is well worth a visit as it gives a good look into the history of the city. Full of interesting artefacts and narrow staircases.

I love it how Turku Castle has been kept in its original form. For safety reasons some areas of the inside have been renovated but otherwise the castle is just like it was in the 1500s. I went to see the Girl King exhibition, where they had outfits from the filming of the movie and all that sort of things.... More

Unfortunately we didn't have a lot of time to hang around in the castle and didn't learn a lot about it, but it was very impressive nonetheless. The inside is labyrinthine and a lot of fun to walk through, and the outside is beautiful.

Positive: - nice atmosphere - friendly staff - clear and visible signs Negative: - mostly just empty rooms without furniture in the castle - too dark lighting at many places, which is dangerous for accidents - very steep and narrow steps

Well maintained and historically impressive stone castle in Turku port area, still guarding the entrance to Aura river. Good and interesting exhibitions and enough area to explore. You may spend hours here. I warmly recommend to visit.

I'll recommend to walk along the Aura River to the castle. The river view is spectacular. If you like boats and ships, the location near the river mouth will definitely feast your eyes. The castle has two parts - the round tower and the main castle itself. Worth paying a visit!
