If you're a fan of the Moomins then the gallery is well worth a visit. It is primarily a collection of original artwork, but does include the Moomin House which is an amazing model. However, if you are looking for something for younger children this probably isn't the place to go as there isn't a lot for them to do... More

I love going to musuems, I have been to many in my life. This was not one of the best. I went to this museum on 'Tampere day' on this day most museum were free of charge. Normally you have to pay 7 euros to go. I don't think this musuem is worth 7 euros. The exhibitions were very small... More

The lovely Moomin characters, buildings, drawings, etc. Suffers from the small current premises. The only Moomin facility in Finland. Best in the Nordics, for sure!

The exhibition of Tove Jansson's moomins in the basement is well worth a visit if you are a fan, even though quite a few of the exhibits are currently on loan to the centenary show in Helsinki Ateneum. It is probably best suited to older children and adults. The rest of the gallery is currently undergoing renovations and is closed.

Of course Tove's illustrations and her partner's models are beautiful and definitely worthy of a trip but the previous exhibition of these within the library building round the corner was so much more immersive and magical. With dimmer lighting generally the pieces shone out like stars around a set of the floating stage and boats for the 'audience' along with... More

I have to admit I love reading the Moomin stories. Tove Jansson's original artwork is on display as well as multi-lingual explanation of the different stories.

This is a very small museum, with only Finnish captions. Recommend only if your children are Moomin enthusiasts.

I simply loved this museum and all the art work in it! It's a shame you cannot take photos and the books are rather heavy (not to mention expensive) because I would have loved some of the cartoons for myself. Must visit! It's a little bit far from the city and we got lost several times so check directions before... More

If you have to ask what this is then it makes no sense to go. If you do know what this is then you have no choice BUT to go.

Suited for serious scholars of Muumi (Moomin) art. Kids should visit the Moomin theme park (Muumimaailma) in Naantali. Souvenirs are better purchased at Helsinki airport.
