5+ points for the Mamma Mia show that was exactly what our stressed minds needed. It didn't even matter that all of us didn't understand swedish that well. 4 points for the atmosphere of the old building and 3- for the interval service. The system seems about as old as the building, for even though you book in advance, you... More

We watched the ABBA-musical in Helsinki, in Svenska teatern. The musical is extremely popular, book your show in good time. We had our seats in the first balcony behind a pillar and a head having a view of 15 cms in breadth. Yäk, no good. If you go there book a seat if possible in the front row of balcony... More

Imagine to go to this beautiful house, listen to excellent finnlandssvenska. Enjoying the intimacy of the Amos stage, and letting the fears of George Orwell get to you.

Swedish theater is a very old theater, recently refurbished. It belongs to the towns old traditions. The language is Swedish, which also is Finland's second official language. A very beautiful hall.

The Swedish Theater offers a nice Cafe in the summer. Located in the center of Helsinki. I recommend the cafe ( in the west end of the buildlng) because: The coffe is good, you get a refill for the same little expensive price, nice atmosphere inside, clean toilet. You can sit inside or outside.

... it is a sight to see, such a quaint shape! I've never been to see a production, as my Swedish is too rubbish to be able to follow a play or whatever, but I've had a coffee. Shame on those who think it should be knocked down! It's part of Helsinki's heritage.

We bought tickets to the drama musical "Kristina från Duvemåla" and enjoyed the day performance very much. There is a special atmosphere to this surprisingly small theater. It pays to buy the tickets well in advance. Booking a coffee service to the mid break is also a good idea to work around the queue in the cafeteria. The musical productions... More

Beautiful theatre in the heart of Helsinki where they only put on productions in Swedish (Sweden is spoken by around 10% of population). Saw ' Kristina From Duvemala ', by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. Best musical I have ever seen or heard! Very cosy theatre and seats in the stalls with plenty of leg-room! Lovely interval meal and helpful... More

We attended a show (Kristina från Duvemåla) at the Swedish Theatre last week. We wanted really good seats and therefore paid € 70 each. The places assigned to us were however on the third balcony and they were miserably poor. Two railings on our row and one on the row in front of us limited the view significantly, and this... More

I must say that this place is lovely after the renovation and the play was excellent. Can recommend this place if you ever want to go and see a play in Swedish in the middle of Helsinki.
