The market was closed due to renovation It's been moved to another location 20 mins walk away. We didn't go as there were no maps and had no idea how to get there.

This place is a gem - a veritable Mecca for the foodie. We breezed through, although I did stop us for a kahvi kermalla ja sokeri (coffee w/cream and sugar), which was delish! They truly had the most gorgeous assortment of food - the sights and smells were artful! There is a lovely uppper level, where you can stop and... More

I've been to Helsinki 3 times and the third time I got the right market, this is not the tourist market on the waterfront. This is commercial (not touristic) and inside the hall the food is great, superb burgers and soups. Highly recommend to visit and enjoy the food (also cheap price for Finland standards)

Nice place to visit for a short walk. It is a bit commercialised, but still offers local goods and local food. We spent less then one hour there, but is looked as if local people are going there as well.

This was our last destination while in Helsinki, a wonderful market beside the harbour selling traditional Finland items for tourists. So many things to see and buy. A must see before leaving. We bought silver jewellery, locally made. Beautiful. It is very busy and can be warm, there are places on the periphery to sit down and rest with a... More

The Old Market Hall in Eteläranta ("Southern Shore") seems to be targeted mainly for tourists and people looking for lunch. It doesn't have the gritty everyday feel that I appreciate in good market halls, but it is still a good place to visit, as the selection of goods and foods is diverse and interesting.

If you you want a taste of the real Finland, go to its markets and supermarkets. A thoroughly absorbing time spent wandering back and forth past fish, meat, bread and so many other stalls. Brilliant - very recommended

Want to try some dried reindeer meat? Perhaps a reindeer kebab? Or just sit down for a quick meal in a cafe? This is a great place to pick up food for a picnic or a quick cheap dinner in your hotel room. While the market isn't huge compared to say the central markets in Riga or Budapest, it is... More

Old Market Hall has a lot of small shops. Finnish food at it's best. Souveniers and finnish tea, coffee, candies. Stop by for a coffee or for lunch, and enjoy the atmosphere! Locals come here to get their fish, meat and vegetables. A bit more expensive than big foodmarkets, but a market hall is always a market hall :)

This is a smaller indoor market hall right on the waterfront. It features a wide variety of food products — everything from fresh seafood to local cheese, jam and pastries. There's even a health food vendor. Even if you don't purchase anything, it's very interesting to look at! The market consists of two long aisles with a central open area... More
