I have been going here many times ever since I was a little kid, and I love the place. Especially that you can press buttons and see lights lid up in the exhibition windows, to mark certain animals.

If you love animals, you gotta visit this place. The taxidermy is so well done, and the audio guide and information provided would make anyone eager to learn really satisfied. There were fossils and bones and recreation of animals as well. Never seen a place with such a huge collection of animals. Would gladly return for an afternoon there again.

Although it was a museum about natural history, it seldom exhibited the live animals. If you don't understand Finnish, it didn't matter. The exhibits were stunning and well-arranged. You can see numerous skeletons of animals, including whales, reindeers or even dinosaurs. If you have enough time, it is worth to spend around two hours to come here.

A lovely museum, although unlike the National Museum, many of the displays lack English explanation. The children's activity room was great with lots of real fossils available to handle and examine, but there were also activities for children in other areas eg the display on bones, which we enjoyed a lot. There are plenty of excellent dioramas to excite the... More

It's been quite a while since I've visited the last time and I was expecting a good experience. It did not disappoint! I like this museum and will definetly go again. Neat and clean and well structured over all. Suitable for children and adults alike.

The museum is great, the attention to detail in most of the scenes is exceptional. But all things are written in Finnish and Swedish, not not in English, which is weird because 70% of the population speaks English vs 49% Swedish, not to mention the majority of tourists most likely speak English.

The natural history museum in Helsinki is easily walkable from the city centre. Unlike nearly all the museums in the UK which is free entrance, the entrance fee is €10 per adult and €5 for children. As others have mentioned the museum is closed on a Monday, so please take that into account when planning your stay in Helsinki. On... More

Now after the extensive renovation this a great museum. I was really amazed and happy to see how great work they have done with the museum. The old museum was a bit sub par. I think this is actually more interesting place to visit than for example New York's exhausting American Museum of Natural History. A lots of interesting and... More

Great for kids and adults. LOTS to see and read including material from prehistoric age. Cool dinosaur fossils on the uppermost floor. Also many stuffed animals, but limited material in English. *Pro tip* for English speakers, if you go get the FREE audio guide from the desk, it helps a lot and there is a LOT more material that is...
