The Finnish National Gallery Ateneum is worth visiting during your trip to Helsinki. It is located next to railway station and the admission fee is around 16 euros (adult). Ateneum holds a collection of the Finnish masterpieces and visiting collections of the international artists. We saw this museum immediately after the Hermitage in St Pete. We were prepared to be disappointed. What a surprise. Wonderful collection. Good diversity. No crowds. And, they were featuring a Pekko Halonen exhibit on a whole floor. Over 300 paintings. We had seen 1 in the National Gallery in London. It was good. These were great. This museum is... more

If you like old art, this is your place. It's got one of the most famous classics in Finnish art and some foreign art as well. more
