While in Helsinki the area around the Ateneun is a must see. The harbor, train station, plaza, church etc etc are all within a couple of blocks. We saved the museum for a rainy day and it was a pleasure. The most famous Finnish work of art, the first Van Gogh to ever be in a museum, one of the... More

The whole package is great, good location, nice cafeteria and good museum shop. A good place to visit even if you are not very interested in Finnish art. But you will suprise when enterign into the main hall! The best collection of Finnish art, the whole golden era. And the building itself is a view. As a small hint, notice the... More

Visit here at least once a year. Line-ups to get in not handled well. Displays are very good and show most well known Finnish artists. International artists also displayed on visiting showings. More

the Atenuem never fails to gratify one's sensibilities in terms of range of artists and their works. Their seasonal exhibits occupy a small part but worth visiting too, and the cafe is a welcome area to replenish and rest your feet after 3 hours! More

We called there a month or so ago and a Karl Larssen exhibition was on. This was popular. It covered a good range of his works, from his excellent realism work - was he influenced by Zola when he went ot Paris in 1870? - to some pretty turgid early 20th Century book illustrations. The building itself is worth going... More

The entrance and fee payment was hazzle free, the rooms and hallways were spacious and not crowded at any point. They had lots of stools and benches to sit and rest on and all information... More
