the main exhibition is pretty good! besides Matisse, Van Gogh, Gauguin or Cezanne, there are lots of finnish good painters! Also, the staff is really nice and they can provide you additional info, let you take pictures/record if you want and so on. The ticket includes the additional exhibitions too! It was great to see Henri Bresson exhibition: a lot... More

You wont get lost in this museum. Spend a few hours enjoying Nordic art. They have regular themed exhibitions. Have a coffee and a cinnamon bun.

This is The Museum in Finland. It is the home of finnish national treasures from the golden years, like Scherfbeck, Edelfelt, Halonen, Gallen-Kallela etc. It frequently exhibits major artists like currently runnimg retospective of Henri Cartier-Bresson. The building is art itself. Always worth visiting to breathe in some esthetics.

What an excellent exhibition. It was worth to go and spend over one hour to go thru this very comprehensive photo exhibition. This is also a place to see and explore the old Finnish art and some old art pieces from abroad. Popular works from Ateneum’s collections will be on display in two exhibition halls on the ground floor of... More

While not very large, the art work was interesting. Definitely worth a visit. Needless to say it centers on Scandinavian art.

Visited the museum during the Henri Cartier-Bresson exhibition. Well laid out but the crowds made easy passage through the rooms and views of the works slightly tricky. Bit more expensive on entry charge for those who are used to free entry to similar museums elsewhere in Europe.

At the time of our visit, the museum had an exhibition devoted to the photographs of Henri Cartier-Bresson We enjoyed looking through the record very much, and the explanations and the themes were well presented and explained. The only thing missing was why they had chosen to present this French artist, whose work was international in its reach, but did... More

Ataneum art museum is host to all the classics Finland has to offer with a big section inspired on Kalevala stories (Finland's national epos) Note that during summer, the museum provides free entry on certain days!

The Ateneum Art Museum has an excellent location just opposite the main railway station. We thought it was a marvellous display of art from the region and especially The Magical North exhibition. Because we had purchased Helsinki Cards we had free entry but whatever the cost, it is well worth visiting. There is a rather nice Cafe there as well.... More

We visited Ateneum Art Museum during time when only 1st floor was open for visitors. However, it was truly nice to see some of the famous painting there. I really enjoyed every moment in this high quality museum.
