The Cathedral is set upon a hillside across the bridge from fish market on the Katajanokka peninsula overlooking the city. On the back of the cathedral, a plaque commemorates Russian Emperor Alexander II, who was the sovereign of the Grand Duchy of Finland during the cathedral's construction. Less popular than Lutheran Cathedral, may be because of climb, it is definitely... More

We liked it more than the luteran cathedral. It's located in a hill with good views of the port. Worth to visit

I would recommend seeing this church. It won't take a lot of time. The inside is somewhat small, but overall it is a pretty cool church. Be sure to walk around it.

You can't miss a visit to this unique masterpiece of Helsinki. I was in awe of the majestic decorations within this church, be prepared to walk up a little hill to get to this amazing location.

View of a cathedral - one of the most beautiful in Helsinki. Also very good panorama of the city opens if to rise upward to a cathedral. The building represents worthy connection of orthodox traditions and northern restraint. The interior of a cathedral is sustained in strict style and creates the corresponding mood.

This is a must-see - as beautiful inside as out and set imposingly on a hill. We happened to visit when a wedding ceremony was going on and that made the the whole experience quite special with the tradition and the music.

This Russian Orthodox cathedral is definitely a "must-see". It's a beautiful church both inside and out. We wandered in during a wedding, so we could not really inspect much of the interior, but the ceremony itself was fun to watch. The cathedral is built on a small hill from which you can get an excellent view of downtown Helsinki.

It's quite an outstanding church perched on the hill, 5 minutes walk from the harbour area. It's free to go inside and although small and crowded it's beautiful - you will only be there for 10 minutes but it's well worth a visit.
