The church is on a hill top near the Esplanade. The view is excellent from outside the church. The church is not big at all but it is very nice and the outside is well maintained. Nice dome. Pretty good/silver accent everywhere.

Though much smaller from the inside than one would expect, it is actually quite a remarkable place. The dome has been renewed two years ago so its gold is quite shiny now :-) Don't miss it, it is very close to the city center, few hundred meters away from the Lutheran Cathedral.

Even though I am not religious I like to visit churches. And I have to say that this is one of the nicest churches I have ever been to. It is beautiful from the outside as well as from the inside (unlike the Tuomiokirkko in Helsinki). Its over-the-top in its Russian architecture, with lots of images, statues and gold, lots... More

The biggest Orthodox church in Western Europe. Well worth seeing. Wonderful icons, gold & silver everywhere. And if you can stay for the Liturgy service, the choir will be excellent, as you will hear. Recommend!

This cathedral certainly brings home the Russian presence in Helsinki's history. When you are looking at the cathedral you certainly feel like you are in Russia not Helsinki. The cathedral is 5 minutes walk from the Lutheran Cathedral and senate square. There is a lovely coffee shop just round the corner from the cathedral called Johan & Nystrom.

This was a gorgeous cathedral. I was there two days ago and it was snowing in Helsinki, and to have the snow surrounding this beautiful Cathedral made it look even lovelier.

On the top of the hill in front of the sea, the cathedral was erected in XIX century. Very suggestive both the position and the steps for getting there and the decorations inside (the big lamp and the arches) typical of ortodox religion. Highly recommanded.

The Cathedral reminds some churches in St. Petersburg. No wonder, because it was built when the Finland was under the Russian protectorate. Externally is grand, simple inside.

The cathedral is located by the harbour and is an interesting part of Russian influences in Helsinki and Finnish history. The architecture is beautiful and like nothing you're used to from the rest of Scandinavia. Look around the cathedral and then walk down to the harbour for a freshly caught lunch from one of the stalls. :)

This very iconic is worth finding. Down by the harbour is worth the battle if the weather is poor. I would recommend spending the time to get here but rather than the huge white Lutheran cathedral - if you have time constraints and have to chose ).
