Dominating the city skyline along with the Helsinki Cathedral, this is the biggest Russian Orthodox Chuch in the western world. Made of red brick, with cooper roof and shiny golden domes, the Church is visible from almost everywhere. From the surrounding terrace there's a magnificent view over the Helsinki harbour and city center. Inside richly decorated.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Cathedral. It is beautiful inside and the views from the grounds outside are also very impressive. This cathedral is worth the climb up to it.

When I visited the Uspenski Cathedral there was a service going on. Curious as I am, I took off my cap and entered and sat at the side in silence and watched, And then I quickly took some pictures. No entrance fee and nice view of the harbor.

I am not a church goer but this cathedral is beautiful. The outside is stunning and you can really see the eastern influence in Helsinki. Inside is nothing special but I recommend the walk up too see it. The view of the harbor is nice as well. Right next to it so after you can walk down and get a... More

It's a nice church and you get a nice view of the harbor area. Other than that, I've seen many more impressive churches. Worth seeing though.

How refreshing to arrive at a place of worship in a capital city and not be asked to pay an admission charge (Ely Cathedral, take note). As a Devon Methodist, with dyed-in-the-wool Cornish Wesleyan grandparents, any church with shining icons, glittering domes and serene statues is something to behold. The Eastern Orthodox Uspenski Cathedral is a mighty impressive place from... More

The Uspenski Cathedral is actually more stunning from the outside than it is on the inside, yet it is still worth a visit and offers great views of Helsinki from above. It is only a short walk from the harbor.

As this cathedral stands on a small hill, it can be seen from the waterfront & is only a short walk. It's very attractive from a distance & very ornate inside. We could only glimpse inside as it was a Sunday & there was a small service taking place.
