The building of the railway station in Helsinki is the most famous in the world piece of Finnish architecture. It is built in Northern art Nouveau style by the architect Saarinen Alilem.Simple and convenient plan of the building – impossible to get lost there. Liven up this rather dry overall architecture of figures on the sides of the main entrance,... More

Helsinki Central Railway Station is a unique building of architect Eliel Saarinen. So finnish Jugend-architecture and quite unique in Europe. Unfortunately the restaurant is spoilt by hamburger chain restaurant. The original furniture of Saarinen is almost totally changed. Luckily you can still see the original fresco by Eero Järnefelt.

Easy to figure your way around this station plenty of signs. Machines for tickets are hard to work only take cards if you make your way to burger king there are cashiers who can help with cash sales for travelers like our selves with no way of using card payments.

We took the train to get to the airport. This was a wonderful experience - beautiful trains and smooth ride with gorgeous views. Helsinki station was wonderful and right in the middle of downtown.

Be sure that you definetely get a pleasure arriving Helsinki or getting out somewhere. Nice restaurants inthere, shops downthere, subway in two minutes to go. Hotes are all around, just let yourself get off the train and join the Helsinki life.

We came into the station from the Airport which is the last stop and takes about 28 mins. The train service from the airport only opened in Dec 2015 we where told and is a really easy way to get into the city and cost 5.50 euro per person one way.

I took a day trip to Turku from Helsinki and enjoyed seeing this station both outside, as I passed by it every day during my stay in Helsinki, and inside, when I traveled via VR train originating and ending here. The service was efficient and there were plenty of coffee and pastry outlets inside, as well as good information boards... More

Easy to get around and find your trains, if you have trouble the VR ticket sales reps are very helpful! Just go in to the station and look for the VR ticket sales and grab a number and wait till you are called. Plenty inside the station too, R-Kioski, Burger King, a small bar, and other places to grab a... More
