I think the railway station is the most interesting place in Helsinki. There you can see people from many different countries and have a cup of coffee or bite a snack while waiting the train and looking people around. Remember to go outside too! Helsinki is very beautiful city :)

As well as its architecture, unlike British stations there is much for the non train user here. Good eateries and fast food outlets at much more reasonable prices than I ever thought possible in Scandinavia. I recommend avoiding the Chinese Buffet though.

Looking its best again after an external face lift a couple of years ago, it is a very interesting building. In addition to the trains (including the new circular service to the airport) it is also on the Metro and it is sandwiched between two bus stations as well as being close to the main bus station at Kamppi. There... More

it definitely gives an impressive landmark, this railway station with its big tower and the large square beside. the monumental architecture with its figurative art is sure not everybodys gusto, but even if you don't like it, you will be impressed. As for the service: the folks in the ticket box are more then helpful, so even without an information... More

Inside it's a sub-par railway station, in terms of facilities and appearance. However outside, its pretty nice if you appreciate architecture. If you're walking by, stop and take a look... but don't go out of your way. Tip... If you're in need of supplies there is a large supermarket near the Western exit.

The train station is very central but has no information desk which is pretty bad for lost tourists. In winter there is ice skating in front of it.

By EU standards this station is below par. Old fashioned outdated retailers and an interior that needs a major upgrade. They need to visit Berlin, Kraków or Munich to see what a station should look like today. the Doctor

We had difficulty finding our way around this station from the platform we came in on. There was no-one to ask for instructions and the staff from our train were unable to help us. There are several station entrances but no information desk which is amazing for a big city. Our hotel was close by but it took us a... More

the facade is beautiful. Recently the rail link to the airport was opened, so you can now travel from the airport to ghe central railway station in about 25-30 minutes. The airport station proper will not open until september 2015, so in the meantime they run a free shuttle service between the nearby entrance and the terminals.

The central station seems to be the heart of Helsinki, since all the cool hangout places and landmarks for tourists are all around the station. With it's beautiful design, I think it'll be a good spot for taking photographs from different angles! At night it get's much more lively, and that's when I recommend you to stop by!
