The central Railway Station is probably the best place to start any activities when visiting Helsinki: its a convenient and easy to reach place, as the metro, all tram lines (except for line 8, which does not go through the city center) and most bus lines have a stop here. If you stay slightly outside the city center but want... More

We walked through here a few times, as it was a cut through to our near by hotel. The station is a grand old building. The platform areas are large, but the inside concourse was rather narrow for a station of this size. It's connect to the city centre shops by an underground shopping network, so there's no need to... Its a nice place with nice architecture. Plenty of security, which is good because there is much of drunken brawlers. If you want to explore the city with public transportation, this is a place to go. You can find subway, trains, trams and buses from here

The station building was designed by Eliel Saarinen and inaugurated in 1919. It was chosen as one of the world's most beautiful railway stations by BBC in 2013. The station is clad in Finnish granite, and its distinguishing features are its clock tower and the two pairs of statues holding the spherical lamps, lit at night-time, on either side of... More

First I have to say; when buying tickets at VR you would imagine to get some shares in the company...Travelling by rail is very expensive. After the first chock, I enjoyed the beauty of the building and the good train service

Helsinki Central railway station was designed by Eliel Saarinen and is one of the landmarks in city center of Helsinki. It is a departure point to local trains and long-distance trains; including trains going to Moscow (Tolstoi) and to St.Petersburg (Allegro). Train traffic in Finland is punctual and fairly reasonably priced. Underneath the railway station is a full maze of... More

Coming from New York and loving the aviation industry, it was very interested to know that Eliel Saarinen designed this building, as well as the former Terminal 5 at JFK Airport. The train station is manageable with restaurants and shops inside. It's definitely worth a visit. We did take the regional trains on tracks 12-19 and couldn't find a ticket... More

A very well situated railway station just in the middle of Helsinki, the capital of Finland. You are at once on the doorstep to all the shops, restaurants, museums and everything else. Information is easy at hand, well organised. You can buy something to eat, drink, read etc. directly at the station.

Helsinki railway station is located so in the centre of Helsinki that you could not get more centre. It is nice size meaning not too big and a mere 50 meters from the public transport. The buiding is hip with the two huge stoneman guarding the entrance. Go and se it even if you flew to Helsinki.
